RE: Game Day: Miami
Bond has looked awful in this 2nd half. Really needs to settle down. Shocked we haven't seen Price at all.

It's weird to think that we've turned it over almost 20 times and are up by 19. Bizarre game.

It's seriously never easy against Miami. No idea why.

RE: Game Day: Miami
Price gets no minutes is odd. But then again ward hardly played last game. So maybe ate prices minutes today.

Although, the whole rotation looks odd this game. As long as Murph rides the big three, I'm not complaining.

Definitely a harsh reminder that Bond is still a freshman and has a ton to learn.

This game is taking too long. I am counting it as a twenty point win. :-)

You finally got your Ward night, huh? 22 points off of 5/6 shooting threes!

Doesn't anyone know how to run out the clock? 19 point lead and they are still trying to make dunks! Its the clock that you have to worry about not show off points! Make them foul you and make your free throws! Game over!

I like this move. I suggested it a month ago.

First one to 70 wins tonight. I predict a LOT of scoring.

Could be a fun game.

I recall you mentioning this, but I think your preferred line up was Bond at PG. Bond at SG. Bond at SF. Bond at PF. Bond at C.

:-)

And look what happened? We dropped 80+. Stating the obvious, but we are a much better team when Karrington is on.

RE: Game Day: Miami
Hey all, weird night at the convo. here's what i noticed.

- very small crowd. the side opposite the team benches would have had 10 people were it not for a youth basketball team from Hartland sitting over there.
- great defense in the first half. glad to see we can still play like that
- the refs were a nightmare. they were equal both ways, but holy **** do they ever know how to suck the life out of a game.
- Ward picked a good game to find his shot. we looked disjointed on offense the whole game. without Ward's shooting that would have been a close game.
- Miami is in the running for worst MAC teams of the last five years
- i was curious if Murphy was letting the young guys figure out how to break the press, or if he had no choice with Talley & Lee out of the game. i'd like to think he was letting them figure it out since the game wasn't in doubt, but who knows.
- i like Nazione at the 5 over our other options. i want Ajayi to be good, but he's just not there. Nazione is at least a threat to do something offensively. i see a lot of comments about us not getting the big guys the ball enough, but none of them can do anything with it except Nazione.
- i love Timmy Bond, but he still has a ways to go. his shot isn't pretty, and he was inches away from having 8 or 9 turnovers tonight. he'll be fine, but there were some growing pains tonight. hopefully his foot/ankle is ok.

RE: Game Day: Miami
i'd also like to say that i've seen a few people say that the wins at the start of the season were hollow/meaningless because they came against poor competition. i couldn't disagree more with that opinion. we were playing great at the start of the season. you can see talent despite the competition. if those wins would have been like tonight's game, i would be on board completely, but that wasn't the case during non-conference play. tonight, we were a mediocre team that beat the crap out of a bad team. that wasn't what was happening at the start of the season.

RE: Game Day: Miami
BTW, don't look now but WMU is only one game ahead of us.

In the race for the home court, MIA and BSU appear out of it.

EMU, Ohio, and NIU are tied for #8. WMU is #7.

The game @NIU is a must win game.

Hm, perhaps we should check page 28 of the 2015 basketball offers page where we find this exchange on December 29, 2014:

EMU 79:
Not to disagree but I have Price at small forward rather than guard, he can play either position. I feel the same way about Bond he can play big guard or small forward. I do agree we need a power forward and a center. Forward is the mystery as we don't seem to have many known candidates for that position. Edwards/Dixon are the only names I've heard for center. I'd love to have Edwards come to EMU.
EMU Steve:
Not to quibble, but I'd be shocked to see Bond play SF, despite his height, unless he can be a 'point forward.' I wouldn't get locked into the 'he has SF height therefore, that is where he belongs.'

I guess EMU Steve recovered from his shock. Anyway glad to see Bond getting some time at SF. Glad to see the big three Talley, Ward and Lee in sync again.

I dare disagree. Not sure he starting at SF changes anything going forward.

Bond despite his frosh mistakes is a PG, but there is a player playing very well at that position now, I think his name is Talley. Didn't Talley play 38 (?) minutes a few games ago?

Bond will be our starting PG once Talley is finished. I haven't retracted on that nor has what Murphy done change that.

RE: Game Day: Miami
Bond is very, very thin. Could add say 20 lbs and get stronger to finish around the basket. (Talley is short but not thin and lacking strength).
