Why is that? Well he's now digging up unknown JUCO players to fill out his program. I will admit that like everyone else on here, I have not seen Samson Oyediran play. However, he never played a game Ancilla. Kevin Roland hasn't played a game in how long? Now we are in on a JUCO Croatian.
Why? Because maybe Brady hoped for once in his JMU career to hold on to all his players so he truly would only have 1 scholarship (for Roland)?
Cabarparka may move on to medical school. Hall is gone on to his other passions. Who else is rotting on the bench and wants a new life?
HS recruits not interested in Brady and his program? Only 1 spot so he didn't keep on the trail of some HS? A good portion of his HS recruits leave after 1 year? Is anyone awake at the JMU controls?
So many questions
This one isn't on Brady, there's no way to blame him in this situation. I don't think anyone could've seen this coming, I mean how many college basketball players drop out of school to sign a record deal? You can't even blame Hall either, he is a 19 year old young man stepping up to provide for his family. That's very admirable for Hall, Brady and JMU will do their best to fill the hole and we will do just fine.

A Michigan State four star football player turned down a scholarship to pursue his "rap" career. Unless you signing a 100k plus deal with a tour , play your four years and learn about the business and build your brand.

Hotrod I don't necessarily disagree I value an education above all else and I fell it's the only way I can get ahead in life. But I am not going to fault the young man for making a decision he felt was in his family's best interest. Will it pan out? Statistics say no but your also not going to get a record deal with Atlantic Records if you don't have some skill. Point is everyone's situation is different and you don't know how bad things were in his personal life. Maybe that signing bonus was all that was keeping his family from living on the streets so there was no other option....
Now if he ends up at another school this fall playing ball then everything I just typed goes out the window and I will look at it as Hall just wanted to leave JMU.

Not sure why you jumped to me talking about Hall on this one. It's about the program overall.
Pour more full on the fire and Hall + his pops said it is about Brady's coaching style not just music.

I have friends that are still chasing that record deal today , that is the only reason why I'm skeptical of moves like this. A record deal depending on the label, sometimes is not a lot of money. I had a friend in HS sign to no limit records in 2001, group called afficial, he now lives woth his mom and is in searchbof another deal.

RE: Matt Brady
the number of record deals that pan out is extremely low. Ive got a few friends that were in a band in HS that signed to virgin and hated every second of it. Deal fell through after 2 years and now they are all pursuing different careers.

Yup....for those that think the world of college athletics can get shady and take advantage of these kids......it does scratch the surface to how shady the music industry is and there is no NCAA oversight to provide any degree of protection. They are not promised squat and don't get any education out of the deal.

Jeff Capel is for lack of a better word an "*******." That's a known fact from plenty of VCU boosters who had numerous contacts with him while he was their head coach. Capel ran the Oklahoma program into the ground. He has the perfect job at Duke, head K knob polisher. It would have been ironic if AZU hired Capel to replace Sendek (an even bigger a-hole.)

If we switch conferences then Brady automatically gets 2 more year extension right?

One year extension. Currently he is set to coach at JMU through the 2016 - 2017 season, but can be bought out after next season for 20K. Should we change conference he will receive one additional season.

Would the extension kick in if we change to the Big South or SoCon? That seems like the likeliest conference change we will see.

Yeah, that was bad. I know. My attitude sucks lately, which is why I stay away. I think I need to go back into time out. But, But, But...I could write a book making excuses for the reasons I am jaded, but it's all common knowledge and nobody wants/needs to hear that- voluntary time out it is.

RE: Matt Brady
What isn't clear about the contract, is if it kicks in per the announcement of a change or when the change actually takes place. I would have to assume that it would be based off of having to actually coach a season inside of a new conference, but its not spelled out. This contract may be typical but I've been involved in a lot of contracts such as this within the NASCAR world, and we had no where near as many gray areas as I can identify with this one. Its like they sat down and failed to play out very many "what if" scenarios.
