Can't blame Larry for trying out new line up combinations against ECU. Plus giving walk-ons a couple of minutes on the floor. We will need to win the games we ought every time. Margins don't matter. No rest for any of the AAC this year.

RE: 1/18 RPIs
Tulsa's RPI has also been dropping like a rock even though we've won like 7 in a row. 5-0 in conference. RPI now #42 per NCAA.com. That can't be blamed too much on our OOC either. We had a decent schedule, just needed to win more of the good games. I am also blaming the teams at the bottom of the conference with very soft OOC's schedules's for Tulsa's RPI drops even though we are winning.

It is partially your ooc schedule; it wasn't that tough and teams like INcarnate Word who boosted the RPI are coming down to earth.

ECU (just to use them as an example) ooc schedule hurts their own RPI a lot more than it hurts the league. What hurts the league is that they lost too many games on the schedule. If they came in at 9-3 off of a weak ooc schedule, that would be fine. Houston lost 2 games to SWAC teams; it's those losses that hurt; if wins, they're record would be much better and the hurt to the other teams' RPI much less.

Teams need to schedule the best teams they can beat. We under schedule ever year, but we do win most of our ooc games at least.
The record of the opponent is 50% of the RPI and opponents' opponents is 25%. thus it's more important for fellow teams to win their ooc games than to play tough ones.

Haha....my money is on UCF as of now.

It is really going to depend on if the guys we are bringing in for next year are as good as we hope they are. It will be very nice not to only have 9 scholarship guys on the roster and get back up to 14.

Yeah, but it is funny to see people like KL act like they aren't in the UH/ECU group that sucks. Clearly UCF sucks along with the rest and has done nothing in the past to indicate otherwise. I know KL points to that one magical season where you had a couple of upsets before being exposed as a fraud (kinda like ECU football this year).

Look, as fans of the sucky teams we all want to get better. It's laughable for a fan from one sucky team to point fingers at others like their poop doesn't stink just as bad.

Tulsa's OCC at 86 was lower than UConn,UC,SMU and Temple. Knowing what to expect in the league Tulsa needs to raise that none of the four I mention was lower than 50. Also Tulsa didn't get any big wins OC to hang their hats on.

So while yes the bottom teams need to improve on the court and scheduling, Tulsa also needs to improve in OC scheduling and winning there

Yep, shouldn't be this way. It hurts everyone.

SMU "win" a few more games like the one against ECU and they'll risk being out of the Tournament.
Well they should've beat us by more then

Here's a better idea --- how about the ECU administration upgrading their pathetic OOC schedule.

I wish we would, however there's the balancing act of getting home OOC games vs getting quality OOC games. Good teams don't want to sign home and home series with ECU, not out of fear but out of there being zero reason to do it. Lebo and ECU obviously don't want to play a majority of their OOC games on the road so it's a difficult proposition. We've played a couple of "buy" OOC games the last couple of years, but I'm not sure long term if playing more of those would help RPI and actually getting better. There is also the big time issue of a lot of people, including me, have lost confidence in Lebo, but with his contract extension to 2021 (which was horribly stupid) there's no way ECU can afford to fire him for a minimum of 3-4 years. ECU was so awful for so long that fans and administrators went crazy about any signs of progress and may very well have screwed ECU hoops for years by over extending Lebo. The team is hopeless for the rest of this year, and there's not really any reason to believe they are going to be a lot better next year.

Who said anything about "quality" OOC games. Good god - how about just some mid-levels to replace those 300 plus RIP'ers? That would work. And if Lebo is doing this where is your AD? Quit the 'helpless victim' stuff and tale charge of your scheduling. It affects the entire conference --

It's not being "helpless" it just appears to be the honest truth. You want to insult ECU for being horrible and a dumpster fire and then just say "schedule better." If we are all those things then why would even mid level teams agree to sign up to come to Minges? Also how am I supposed to "take charge" of anything? There's nothing I'd love more than an OOC schedule with ACC teams and good regional schools like ODU, VCU, Richmond, Charlotte, etc but what is their incentive to come to Greenville? Since you are the all knowing basketball person how would you go about getting decent opponents to sign up for home and homes against ECU?

I've been around awhile; have seen a lot of posters and their comments. So, you can take this for what's worth and what you paid for it; he is the only poster from any program and on any board that I have on "ignore". That's pretty telling for either him or me; you can be the judge.

Who knew Creighton was going to be this god awful. Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Wichita State, and Creighton is a great OOC lineup most years. ULL is often a tourney team. ORU, UALR and Missouri State are going to be in our rotation due to history and location.

It's not like the AD went after a cupcake schedule.
