I'm sure there were 29k tickets distributed...reality sez less than half.
Crowd looked better than the Miami and Camelli Bowls.
Pretty good for a minor bowl with G5 teams as far away as Marshall and NIU.

I don't like Marsha, but respect for the beating they gave NIU. *tips his hat*

Didn't get to watch the game, but the Miami Herald estimates actual attendance at 50% tix sold, so @ 14,500. They estimate Miami Beach at 60% tix sold (20+) or @12,500. I's say that is pretty close. I was very impressed with the Memphis turnout given the horrible date and time (worst bowl slot by far). I'd guess 3 or 4 Tigers to every Cougar fan. While I don't agree with Mormon beliefs, I admire their passion. On the way back to the RV (only way to travel with six kids), I got handed tracts by three different BYU fans who were gracious even after a tough defeat.
I think I read where Camellia Bowl announced attendance @20+, but didn't see that game either to know what % is actual. All in all, pretty good showings for new bowls.

Camellia was easily the best attended of those new bowls. It should have been given USA's proximity.

No, it's not. Interest in Marshall was driven by them being undefeated and by the Access Bowl chase. Show's over, nobody cares anymore. NIU-Marshall is just another game.
Boca Raton got no more or less attention than Miami Beach did before the fight.
Negative. It was a great match up between two conference champions. I for one enjoyed watching the game.

Watching two conference champions playing are overrated? Oregon-FSU and Ohio State-BAMA are overrated too? Go back to the overrated Big East.
I didn't say over-rated. I said it was just another game. And I expect the ratings to back me up, that Boca Raton will perform about like the Miami Beach Bowl did, say between a 1.1 and a 1.5.
Conference champ vs conference champ would help if it were a standing event, where ESPN picked a bowl to match to G5 champs every year, not something improvised two or three weeks in advance. People who aren't CUSA or MAC fans probably don't know off the top of their head that NIU is the MAC champ this year.
And I stand by the argument that MArshall drew interest this year because they were undefeated, not because they are MArshall or because they're CUSA champs. Once they stopped being undefeated, the clock struck midnight and Cinderella had to go home.
I disagree to a certain extent.
Yes Marshall received extra attention for being undefeated. What team wouldn't? But, The Boca Bowl also received extra attention, because it is the only match-up of conference champs this bowl season. Also Marshall was 12-1 and NIU was 11-2 heading into the game. That is a strong match-up. Many fans of college football, especially those of G5 football, were interested in that game. I think Marshall will end the season ranked because of their performance yesterday.
