Please stop this (add 20-25 mil per school) comical nonsense, Lubbock tech fan.
I wish it was nonsense but it isn't. Any P5 looking to expand will examine the marginal value of adding a new school. And that marginal value has to be such that the current members don't lose money.
E.g., it's highly unlikely that Houston, buried in an area that is already Big 12 country, would pass that test.
FOX could be the savior...if they think the B12 is in jeopardy of splintering and some parts going to Team Disney...they might overpay to add 2 teams.
This is about Disney vs FOX as much as anything else.
I tend to be skeptical about these big-picture network battles, but if you are correct about Disney vs FOX, then sure, overpaying is possible.
I tend to think that Disney and FOX are more of an oligarchy than fierce competitors. Sort of like Coke and Pepsi - they have more to gain by cooperating to advance the industry than they do by engaging in competitive bidding wars with each other.

Coke and Pepsi are fierce competitors. However, neither would be enthused about a 3rd competitor rising up.

Could be an oligarchy but I bet their respective shareholders don't view it that way. Fox overpaid for a diluted Big East. Would they view an expanded Big 12 as inventory that would move the needle more in football and basketball and help them build their brand? Time will tell. Fox may feel they're overpaying for the B12 right now given some of the football ratings. That might give the B12 pause to consider re-opening negotiations and losing ground.

RE: Big 12 expansion without your school colored glasses....
One question that doesn't get asked often is if there is a demand for more P5 type inventory.
A 3rd network would have space, but would they have the critical mass to make it worthwhile?
ESPN has all the inventory they need and more. Does Fox? Don't know. Now the Big 10 deal could change those balances. ESPN obviously would like to keep what they have.
I read one article citing a Big 12 source saying the networks weren't willing to pay any extra for expansion candidates (so everyone would split the same $ 12 ways instead of 10), much like CBS wouldn't pay the SEC anything for Missouri and A&M. It could be that Fox has as much inventory as they need or are holding out to try to get some Big 10 inventory. Or you could subscribe to JR's theory of networks trying to restructure things. Of course, it could also be a source simply trying to squelch any expansion rumors (for any number of reasons).
The Big 12 already has more games on national networks than any other, an average of 9 per school, while the Pac 12, B1G and SEC reserve a number of games for their conference networks.

1st factor in what a champ game would bring to the table. Is it 20 million, 30 million? Whatever it is, divide by 2 and subtract that from the 20 million each school would have to bring. Makes it much more palatable.
Now that there are already 4 P5 ccgs, how much is the 5th one worth? Is it worth more than having 3 Big 12 regular games filtered around that weekend? The Big 10 is getting about $24 million/year for their ccg. Not sure about the others, but the Pac game is on Friday night while the ACC and B1G competed on Saturday night this year, Fox vs. ABC. The SEC took the 4:30 time slot. So there is noon open.

Agreed...that game would be worth something. Also the B12 could play hardball with (insert random AAC/MWC team) and have the two newbies on a half share for the length of the GOR. Adding a Cincy/Memphis, etc... does add a monetary TV value also. I think the B12 could expand if they really want to.

They have a small stadium even with the expansion and are barely even the most popular team in their own city. Plus they wouldn't bring any real recruiting advantage from ohio that ecu doesn't already have on their own. They do have a lot of things going for them just everyone seems to talk like they are a home run.
Let's see Ohio HS football compared to NC HS football. You must be smoking something because Ohio is a hotbed for recruiting behind only Calif, TX and Florida.
I keep hearing the size of our stadium thrown into the mix. Not only is Nippert being renovated to seat over 40,000, but we also have Paul Brown Stadium 10 minutes from campus which seats 60,000+

The real problem the B12 has is too many programs with too low a profile. They should have offered Lville instead of TCU. B12 didn't need 4 programs in Texas.

Should have offered Louisville and Cincy when they took WVU.

Should have offered West Virginia and Louisville. Texas Tech was firmly against adding TCU. Texas Tech and Oklahoma wanted Louisville.
