Before yesterday that was the 2nd best team Ohio State beat. They beat #13 Michigan St, #25 Minnesota and #16 Wisconsin. Everyone else sucked.

This was a money grab. Excluding two private schools with smaller fan bases. Excluding the only two schools whose fan bases would spend the least amount of money on DFW hotels for the title game.

Las Vegas would make TCU a favorite over Florida St or Ohio St on a neutral field tomorrow.

I think that's fair. TCU and Baylor won't take many fans anywhere.

But, for as valid of a point that may be in that respect it doesn't make up for TCU or Baylor not playing a CCG. That's what this is all about.
No need for a CCG when the entire conference plays a round robin.

The playoff committee just said otherwise.

This is why end of year championship games mean a lot. Gives you a chance to pad your resume.

RE: Big 12 was the 2nd or 3rd best conference
Big 12 was top heavy like the ACC and they were living off the fact that Oklahoma was more highly regarded then it probably should have been this year.

Out of conference they had WVU's close loss to Alabama, K-State's close loss to Auburn, Okla State's close loss to FSU and Texas' close loss to UCLA.

Best win was TCU over Minny.

ACC had GT @ Georgia, VT @ Ohio State, and BC at home over USC.

In terms of close losses:

Miami @ Nebraska, UVA vs. UCLA.

Don't really see much difference between the two conferences this year myself.

Cheers,
Neil

I really think the committee picks the teams they wanted in and then creates the story that backs their selection. Ohio St was too big of a college football behemoth to leave out.

I think there is some truth to that.

The lack of a CCG still stands out though and at very least it made for an all to easy excuse.

One of your top teams can't play a 2-9 team and expect winning that game to get them into the play-offs. If TCU and Baylor had played each other, the winner would have most certainly topped Ohio State for #4. As it is the committee got it right.

There is no way the committee got it "right." No matter who they chose.

They had 6 great candidates for 4 spots. Impossible situation.

What's even more interesting is that they ranked FSU 3rd. If we were still under the old 1-2 BCS format, the committee would not let undefeated Florida St defend their title!

You need to go and look at the ratings again. Big 12 is NOT #3 in TV ratings.

Look at apples to apples ratings. They are. When you compare 9 Big 12 games/team to 6 ACC/Pac 12 games/team they aren't, but that's not a valid comparison.

Now this year with FSU's great ratings, the ACC may be 3rd. Haven't seen any analysis yet.

Big 12 was a couple upsets away from 2 in the playoffs. Some years CCG help some times they hurt, especially if there are upsets.

This year they helped because everyone won and one team looked really, really strong.

I can see your ACC education leaves you lacking in reading comprehension (assuming you're a grad and not just a fan). I was clearly referring to 2014 with the comment about FSU's good ratings this year.
