We will be back to winning next year and competing for the title the year after that. Most of us predicted about 3-4 wins this year. We had 67 scholarship players and were mostly playing freshman and sophomores against juniors and seniors. The key to 6 wins this season was staying healthy which we we're able to do the first half of the year.

At times this season we had almost all freshmen in the defensive backfield. These freshmen and sophomores will become juniors and seniors with talented depth behind them. We redshirted a lot of people too. Lack of depth was our biggest problem this year.

If you remember, we went into the La tech games with 3 wins, momentum and a real shot at 6 w's. We took the opening kickoff and went straight down the field for 6 but lost our QB along the way. We had to play with a walkon the rest of the way and still only lost by 10. By the time the game was over we were without our starting QB, almost all of our RB's were hurt in some way. Our RT was out, his backup was playing hurt and our MLB was gone for most of the rest of the season plus our best pass rusher at DE. We never recovered after that but still almost beat UTSA.

Many programs go through what we have after a bad coaching hire but winning programs always come back. We are one of the winningest G5 programs in the country and have a history of success that others can only dream about. All this, their struggling financially stuff is stupid too. Most G5 and many P5 programs are struggling but winning programs do what they have to do to win. We fired a coach after one season which is almost unheard of because we don't tolerate losing. We came up with 3 million bucks pretty quick for a program that's supposed to be strapped. Our budget is low because of laws put in place by MSU and OM that limit what we can get in subsidies but we have the money to whatever we need to do.

We just spent over $50,000,000 on a new athletic center and stadium expansion and suites and have some of the best G5 football facilities and atmospheres in the country. Any of you guys that are members of the brotherhood of what's happening now and think this is the new normal are being silly. Within 2 years CUSA titles will start going through Hattiesburg again and don't be shocked if we don't have something to say about it next year.

Actually, as Nasty pointed out we're not sucking at basketball right now,
which is why sometimes I think the Mayans were right.

Do we know who our 4 OOC games are against yet? I know we open against Mississippi St but from there I am not sure. USM athletic website has us also at Nebraska and a home game vs BYU but there's no 4th game listed yet. I was under the impression we were going to either Appy St or Texas St as a return game for games they played here.

Next year is the year I expect us to returning to our winning ways. I know the entire fan base will have those expectations, for the first time in 2 years.

We will sell a boat load of season tickets next year and will have a big home game against Ms State to open the year.

There is going to be a lot of excitement and hope going into the season.

Good times ahead for sure.

Could have easily had 6 this year. MTSU, La Tech, and UTSA should have been wins.

Monken has to fix the offense. At least with Fedora, when our defense sucked, his offense outscored teams. We haven't been able to do that at all under Monken.

Defense could use an improvement as well.

I'll wait until after the JUCO signing period to guess our win total. We have a bunch of holes to fill.

How exactly are some of you extrapolating a winning season next year?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for you to be right, just want to see what you're seeing.

I don't think we'll ever play JSU again and we played Alcorn last year so you're probably right.
