Imagine if we had a good year.
I think it is much to early to proclaim how great the BE is. I do find it somewhat amusing how angry some fans of those in the AAC get about the BE. Such bitterness about a group they feel are somehow beneath them. I dont get the obsession

No doubt that the Big East is having an outstanding start to their season. Bragging about being number 1 in November though is kind of . Let's revisit this thread in March.
And Providence looks very good so far this year. Congrats. I wish the southern New England schools would play more often.

I think that some of you guys are missing the point. Relative strength of conferences is determined by OOC games in RPI. Once teams start playing in conference, they are only trading the SOS that a was built up OOC. RPI is what the NCAA Selection Committee uses to decide who gets picked for the tourney and where they are seeded.
So, how a team plays in November does't decide who wins the championship, but it has a lot to do with who will play for the championship and how tough a road they will have getting through the tourney once they do get picked.

They were oddly silent when all 4 Big East teams went down the first weekend of the tournament, while UConn and Louisville made their runs.
Sort of the way Bearcat fans were the last couple of years when they took an early exit, right?
Who did Cincinnati lose the first round games to? Oh, yeah, an Ivy League team and a Big East team (Creighton).
People who live in glass houses and all that . . .
BTW, I don't think that referring to the Louisville run is the smart move for an AAC fan who wants to boost the superiority of his conference since that ship has sailed.

The new BE has many of their teams with similar records right now due to the same scheduling model, but only two teams ranked and none higher than Villanova (AP #10). Villanova hasn't been much in the postseason lately.
There truly is nothing more meaningless than the polls in November. They are a survey of opinions and favor team's past reputations.
Check any of the power ratings and they will show 6 Big East teams projected to go to the tournament based on the early results. If the Big East keeps this up in December, they will be a factor in March because November/December is where selections and seedings are determined. After that, teams are just knocking each other off in conference.
