Posted this is another thread, but if he can improve his accuracy in the offseason I think he has a chance to be really good. His decision making as a first year starter has been damn near perfect. The question is can/will he improve

Do we have anyone that can work with him and help him improve? I hope so but I honestly do not know.

Posts like these blow my mind. Carey and Cole were both on the offensive staff that helped develop Lynch.

If he wants to take it to another level, there are other QB coaches out there that they go to. I would love if we saw him go to someone else in the offseason.

Sorry, I am not impressed with Cole, and Carey is an old O line coach not a QB coach. Maybe Cole can help him with his mechanics and accuracy but maybe he needs more help than Cole is equipped to provide. Hare continues to struggle hitting high percentage short passes so whatever they are doing is not working so well.
Now what should I believe our ten and two record or my lying eyes. My lying eyes say there has not been much improvement as the season has progressed.
I wouldn't say what we watched in 2012 and 2013 was a result of any coach developing Lynch. Especially since he was an anomaly for his position (short-yardage back playing QB). He was an example of a talented athlete getting an opportunity to succeed and the system was molded to him. As far as Hare developing it is possible, sure. I'm just not sure there is that much room to grow without the natural talent to back it up. Accuracy can be improved upon with practice only to an extent, will it be enough for him to become "really good", time will tell. If being accurate in a throwing sport was an easy accomplishment without arm talent, I would have become Greg Maddux a long time ago.
Lynch, short yardage back? Dude has like 10 touchdowns of over 70 yards in his career and was like a 6.5 ypc runner. He's also faster than Stingily and Bouganon.
He also improved his throwing quite a bit from junior to senior year. He was certainly better than his first two years as a thrower in very limited reps.
I haven't seen the improvement in hares throwing ability either, but I'm not gonna discredit Cole or Carey yet either. Cole isn't the best play caller in my book, but they've been grooming Hare in decision making and if he's that good at the mental aspect, it stands to reason he can improve accuracy and mechanics.

It could have something to do with the fact that Hare didn't receive the full reps that a typical starting QB would have going into the season. He split with Mac & Maddie all Spring and Summer, so he's never had the chance to get a full offseason under his belt as the #1.

It should be noted that improvement is not always obvious or linear. It gets harder to do things as teams get tape on you and can gameplan for what you do well. So even though the numbers may not skyrocket up, the more a QB sees and prepares against the better he can get.
At the end of the year, the staff and Hare will have a lot of time to add stuff to his arsenal and hopefully Hare has the physical and mental ability to become a better QB.
Drew Hare is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.
so there...
Thinking about his performance, 'good and stable' comes to mind. Harnish and Lynch were more 'playmakers'. Remember Kill would say "we need guys to make plays, that's the difference with winners". Hare doesn't have the same physical skills as Harnish/Lynch (yes, he can run abit).
But damn, we're 10-2 and Hare doesn't make many big mistakes, and coming into this year, that's what we wanted.
Just think, next year we get to go through this whole QB controversy discussion again!!
Short yardage backs aren't limited to only short gains. I was merely exaggerating the fact that Lynch's bruising game-play mimicked that type of runner more closely than that of a modern day passing QB or Johnny Football scrambler type. Therefore I'm fairly confident no NIU coach had any affect on grooming him to be the player he was. I'm also glad you noticed the 2.4 point increase in his completion percentage from 2012 to 2013.
Short yardage backs are used for third down and less than 3 and 4th and short.
Lynch was not that type of runner. I also had no clue his completion percentage went up, I would have assumed it was the same as before. But I do know, in 2013 he was much better at making throws that were beyond 15 yards and throws outside the hashes. That's where you see an improvement in passing and touch. In a system like NIUs, since there are so many short passes completion percentage should be high.
It's the throws downfield and outside the twenties where a QB can really showcase his arm talent.

I disagree. Lynch was the epitome of that type of runner. He not only ran the ball up the middle almost every play he also brought the boom on whoever may have been in his path. He just took it many steps further by having the ability to take it to the house. I'm not sure what you would classify his running style as.
And I'm not sure he got that much better at throwing from 2012 to 2013 as his passer rating dropped 6.5 points and YPA went down as well. I know numbers don't always tell the whole story, but in this case it does not definitely show we have guru's grooming out QB's year in and year out.

Development isn't linear is exactly what I tell myself when I'm most frustrated with Hare.

Yeah, it's hard. You just have to hope he's got enough ability that he can physically do all the things they want him to do (to at least an acceptable level) and has the mental ability to have it "click" at some point.

I don't think Lynch improved much as a passer from 2012 to 2013. He had another year with his receiving corps, that by itself might have been enough to improve completion % by a couple points, or a slight change in offensive style.
