The ironic thing here is UNC-C opens with Ga State next year.....
A loss to the Panthers and I think it is safe to say they are officially....

Yeah I don't really see UNCc's continued struggles having much bearing on CUSA/SBC positioning. I think everyone agrees that these two football programs are virtually identical. It's a wash when both conferences made the mistake of adding them.

The arrogance is heavy with the basketball "juggernaut" 49ers.

RE: In Other News... CUSA Newbie UNCC Having Attendance Woes
I had a UNCC grad try and tell me the other night that they were stealing our recruits. i just laughed
if they were stealing all of our recruits since their inception, then why are they struggling to beat D3 teams and we've just won 5 straight FBS games?

For all our attendance woes we get on TV a lot and we get talked about nationally a lot. Besides I wouldn't call Charlotte a big market.

I side with you on this. It's time to take the high road and just let it play out between the hashes.

The city of Charlotte is the largest market area in NC.
The issue is due to demographics no one exactly owns it, CUSA went with the notion that if a school is located in or near the large market it either owns it or "could" own it in the future.
That will never be the case for UNC-C. They will never in our lifetimes twice over own the Charlotte market, nor will they receive enough support to warrant their move to CUSA. They barely have a functioning blog section in the Charlotte newspaper at this point.
They rant and rave about how we have sour grapes because allegedly CUSA "choose them over us". If that grabbing markets teams don't own is the CUSA expansion strategy, respectfully count App State out.

Even though they are the only show in town, if I didn't follow college football, I probably wouldn't even be aware they had a team. There was a ton of hype before they started, but you don't see anything around town at all. The market argument is garbage.
The market argument is not garbage, that is the new world order. College football finally admits that it is all about money and tradition be damned. Television market trumps quality of the program. UNCC is the poster child.
It is garbage if you do your homework and discover that the program in question will never move the needle in that market. Years down the road, maybe Charlotte will be able to achieve that if they can sustain a winning program, GA State (sorry guys) has no chance. Heck, even GA Tech is second to UGA in their own town.

We already know that is not possible until years down the road. UNC-C was at our throats even before they had a team in between those hashes you speak of.

RE: In Other News... CUSA Newbie UNCC Having Attendance Woes
Please move or delete this thread. Not necessary and has no business on this board.
I live in Charlotte and I know what a complete nonentity UNCC is in this city. They don't move the needle at all. Having said that, there is no reason for this thread. We are about to finish off a great run in our first FBS season. Let's enjoy that, and we can talk about Charlotte down the road when we play them. Until then, let's focus on our own house. The losses are going to keep piling up for UNCC, and they are not worthy of a thread on our board. Only thing this does is allow their more delusional fans to convince themselves that we care about them.

RE: In Other News... CUSA Newbie UNCC Having Attendance Woes
Good for their students to recognize selling the tickets to paying customers is the right thing to do. This is great for UNCC long term. They will be able to sell more tickets to alumni with a CUSA schedule and the student demand will equal supply and could cause the student ticket value to increase. Good business move.

I guess I just don't get worked up enough to worry about what 6 people in CLT say.

RE: In Other News... CUSA Newbie UNCC Having Attendance Woes
I am impressed our mods put this here, on the CUSA board this would have stayed front and center. They just would have banned SBC posters from access and let the UNCC and Coosa faithful continue until they felt legitimatized.

I wouldn't call ESPN announcers confusing GaST for Georgia Southern being talked about nationally a lot.

Charlotte is considered a smaller market for pro sports, but for a college it is a large market. However that market is dominated by ACC and SEC fans, much like Atlanta.

yeah. It is UNC or Duke in Charlotte. UNCC doesn't even cause a ripple.
