RE: Joey Dorsey and Tarik Black Were In The House Tonight
Not just that Tarik got booed...which is stupid...but I didn't hear one boo for Francisco Garcia.

Not one.

I'm still waiting for a good reason that folks are holding a grudge against Tarik. He did what was best for him and for us, and is a former Memphian that is doing well in the NBA.

Francisco Garcia is a two bit punk (that went to our biggest rival ever) that jumped up and down and gave a throat slash on OUR scorers table.

Can't figure that one out.

I still root for Tarik. It bothers me a little bit that people booed him, but I understand why. I wouldn't criticize them for doing it. Local kids should understand that if they want to be embraced by the city, they should stay. If they want to leave, that's fine, but when they do that, they become just another guy. Ask Detric Golden.

Here's the rub with that logic...Tarik DID stay...for four years.

Or Skal Labissiere, when he comes in with his team for an NBA game

Seriously, Tarik is a good dude and I'm thrilled for both he and Joey

Look, Tarik can do whatever Tarik wants to do. Whatever. That's cool. But it doesn't mean I have to like it. He plays here all that time, given every opportunity in the world, then, when he has a choice to maintain his loyalty to the program, he transfers to a school which most recently kept us from our first national championship. Now whenever he's introduced before an NBA game or a graphic pops-up on TV, it reads "Tarik Black - Kansas". Which is exactly how I feel. Kansas. That's why I feel the way I do. No big mystery. He's not losing any sleep over us clowns anyway.

If Tarik had just become "another guy" he wouldn't have gotten the boos. He's been villainized for getting out of a bad situation, after he received his diploma. The folks that boo him are the selfish people that wanted him to stay to make our team better last season, putting their selfish wish for a better basketball team before a young man's life decision. They should be ashamed of themselves.

C'mon, he was far and away our best post player and he was basically relegated to the bench by the coach. What were his options? Transfer or spend his senior season at the end of the bench because he was one of the many players that wound up in our coach's doghouse?

The guy comes back and visits our program, and when he does, he wears Memphis gear, not Kansas gear. Our coaching staff can wish him well. If they don't hold a grudge, no one should.

Don't understand booing Tarik. He gave it three years at Memphis and, unfortunately, never really improved. He might not have gotten a shot at the pros if he hadn't transferred. I like Pastner but he has certainly been underwhelming in the player development area. Just my opinion.

what a biased statement... he did not improve at KU.. He was given the starting job and regressed to the point that he was playing less than 10 minutes per game until KU had some injuries to big men.

He improved so much that he was not drafted.. 01-wingedeagle

I wouldn't boo him myself, he's an alum just like me and hopefully one day he'll donate to the University and the TSF.

Everything said, I get both sides. And even with my opinion, I wouldn't openly "boo".

Tarik didn't regress at all. Joel Embiid got a lot better as the season wore on, which was predictable.

When Embiid went down in March, Tarik actually played very well. I doubt that Self really had much to do with that, Tarik just managed to limit his fouls and stay on the court.

I'd respectfully disagree, I actually think booing a Memphis grad specifically is a bit classless, not a lot, but just a little.

He transferred for more minutes and a change of pace. It's his life to live and I bear him no ill will. Hell Pellom was a better fit for us in many ways (give me glass and effort guy over a post scorer when wh have Nichols, Shaq, and the 4 guards) and he played for a new team and learned some stuff while leaving us with a great APR and three years of hard work.

Tarik will not go down as an all time Tiger b/c he transferred, but Antonio Barton would be welcomed back with open arms and their cases are similar (minutes, change of pace in life, etc).

I get it, he's a big boy, people are entitled to their opinion, etc. And I'm not calling out anyone who did it, but I wouldn't boo Tarik.

Maybe it was his choice of chips at the press conference?

That assumes that all Grizzly fans are Tiger fans and would know who he is. There is some crossover but there are a lot of guys that don't follow both.

The home team won by 26 points, was up by 36 at one point in the game, and holds the best record in the NBA.

A dude who plays for the Houston Rockets got booed...?

Tells me we're a legit NBA town, as opposed to the days we held a "Shane Battier Appreciation Night" after he was traded to Houston.
