Bull.

If it means more money, and more stability...do it.

This is the dirty little secret that no one will acknoweldge. Signing a GOR would be GREAT for this conference. It would lead to stability and more money. It will never happen, becuase 3-5 schools have convinced themselves, after seeing all their 'peers' make the big time, that their invite is only days away. This is the type of mentaility that leads schools/fans/politicians/whatever to publicly diss their current conference and blow very public kisses at a Power conference. No wonder we only got 2 million per school, for a conference that didn't even have a name yet...

Signing it would be great. Make it a short GOR, make it weak, give it more holes than swiss cheese... but if they did *anything* public it would really help our TV negotiations.

(Sarcasm) But it won't happen... becuase the B12 will expand any day now! Why, it's just gotta be true, becuase we're too good for this crappy conference!

Exactly...a 9 year GOR that pays 3 million per team wouldn't stop anyone from jumping to the B12.

But it would bring money, exposure, and a measure of stability.
Why wouldn't it stop anyone from moving up? The whole point of a GOR is to make it so that other conferences would gain no benefit from poaching schools from your conference. If a power conference doesn't gain anything from pulling an AAC school up, why would they invite anyone?

If you get 20 million + per year...who cares if you have to pay 3 million to the AAC for a few years?

Memphis would have some great value to the Big 12 IMO.

When any conference expands it's about how many television sets or the size of the TV Market a team can bring.

That and travel would obvioiusly be a problem for ECU.

There's not a problem with the quality of their FB program.

I do not believe any of this for a second but it appears a lot of people did not read this article the same way I did on regards to the GOR….It said that Aresco has gone back to ESPN trying to increase our television deal money for a GORs in return. So basically he was saying that there would be more money in the television package but all teams in the league would have to sign a GORs. At least that is the way I read it….Really just a lot of nonsense in my opinion.

Not even that. They have no less then FOUR teams in the conference from that state already. They will never take another team from that state. It just does nothing for their bottom line. 07-coffee3

Is any conference going to be interested in UCF with their recent charges concerning your HC?

They took Louisville so your trolling comment is total BS….They will never take ECU but it has nothing to do with Academics, ECU's Academics are just fine. We have tried to make changes to the items that hurt us in the rankings but we keep getting push back from the UNC System as they are bound and determined to keep us in "our place"…Or at least what they think out place should be. Not to mention the huge cuts in funding for ECU over the last several years.

RE: Blog Rerporting Possible Effort to Get An AAC GOR?
It is an interesting proposition. The Big-12 and ACC GOR's both expire in about 13 years. That's when I think you will see the last of realignment. So, if ESPN came to the AAC and said---we will give each of your teams 7 million a year if you guys sign a 10 year GOR---would the deal get done? Its possible AAC teams might take the bird in the hand. That's a guaranteed 70 million dollars over the next decade in addition to 10 years of extensive national TV exposure. Seven million a year might be hard to say no to.

maybe. But the West Virginia AD did mention ECU as his school of choice to help them with the island issue in the big 12. I wish I had the link....

Much like UCF had horrific attendance issues when you were suffering through an 0-17 stretch.

USF has proven that it could average 40K plus in the seats when it has a good schedule and the team give fans reason to care. Unfortunately, the program was horrifically mismanaged by our previous Athletic Director and was dealt a tough blow when program founder which stopped all the momentum of the programs previous 12 years. I don't think USF fans truly appreciate what a GREAT job Leavitt did building the program but also how much more work needed to be done. When Leavitt got fired it hired a good guy in Holtz but he is not a builder that was needed to finish the job.

But it's so easy to jump on a message board and pretend like those things never happened... I swear, the memory capacity of some of the posters here is about 12 months. That's it.
