RE: 2 Deep!
Maybe instead of relaying the play in to the QB, depending on the play they will change the QB. 3 and long is Hare, first and 10 is Maddie, 4th and inches is McIntosh. A new way of managing the QB position

RE: 2 Deep!
Good stuff 7...

Joel B 2nd string.

4 of 6 true freshman at CB, amazing. Smalls an "OR" as a starter at CB.

Dunbar definitely inside.

Santa OR Folliard at LB

RE: 2 Deep!
Carey's having his press conference right now. Didn't rule out playing multiple QBs.

True freshmen on the 2 deep:
Dunbar
Smalls
Hunt
Olootu
Lurry

I assume when Bass is healthy, he stakes Santa's/Foliard starting job as OLB.

Flemming is listed as a DE. Confirms to me even more NIU is going to play a lot of 3-4, so that'll be that "Huskie" position we read about.

No Saffold or Blake (or Mitchell or Brinlee), but normally NIU plays 8 WRs and only 5 are listed.

ACRB is 2nd ahead of KHJ, but I'm not sure how much that really matters.

The defensive front looks more like a 3-4, than a 4-3

RE: 2 Deep!
Definitely more surprises than expected.

Surprised Gordon is potentially 3rd string NG. Lee must look real good so far. I think Compton and Dunbar could be nice surprises.

Lots of freshman at CB which we knew, surprised it's Brooks or Smalls instead of Olootu. Maybe they play a corner to a side, but I don't think that's the case.

Also Joel taking that number 2 spot, although all will get carries it shows what they think of him.

That's probably because it's going to be a 3-4 lol.

Also, Wedel listed at the K and P, but Orne is handling kickoffs. Wonder if his leg is stronger or if they're just trying to save Wedel's leg a little.

RE: 2 Deep!
Albert Smalls is a big kid for a true freshman corner. 6-1, 206. He's bigger and weighs more than both NIU's starting safeties.

Good size to have, let's hope he has ball skills and can bring guys down. I'm interested to see how much patience they have with Brooks if he doesn't play up to par and we start seeing more plays for the young guys.

Is Siosifa Malolo eligible? Surprised he is not on the 2 deep.

You're right, this is a very talented young team for guys that will get reps. It's possible a QB will be in his 3rd year as a starter. You'd have an experienced defense, a pretty solid O line we are expecting and most likely good skill players.

This two deep sets them up well for the future.

It is nice to finally have some good depth at LB.

RE: 2 Deep! (Spoiler: OR is the Starting QB)
Honestly if it was me, I'd just start Maddie on Thursday and see what happens. If McIntosh hasn't distinguished himself by now in his 4th year in the system, I say give the reigns to someone with the potential for a bigger upside.

But, assuming all goes well, you have your starting QB back.

Dang it 7...15 months ago you had me convinced Maddie would start for you guys this year. I was pretty mad WMU lost the young man. Still time for me to be mad and Maddie to prove himself in the MAC...but given he's 3rd on the depth chart, it lessens the sting of losing him a bit.

He isn't third - it says McIntosh OR Hare OR Maddie.

Tons of depth at WR and NIU always seems to be fine OL.

Offensive line will not be a problem next year. We have some RS Freshman and Sophomores that are studs. We just reload.
