Been saying it for years. The Grizzlies are on the verge of taking over as THE basketball team in this city.
Folks are making decisions on what to do with their entertainment dollar. Looking at this schedule, it's not that tough of a decision.
Yeah, I mean, when both teams are playing home games who are the crowds going to go support?
The Grizzlies average attendance for the last 2 years has been greater than the Tigers but not by a lot. Last year's Lemoyne-Owen game really hurt our average attendance. The Grizz were certainly helped by playoff mania.
2014 - Grizz - 16,718, Tigers - 16,121
2013 - Grizz - 16,624, Tigers - 16,336
I don't think it's an either/or thing about going to a Grizz or Tigers game.
Glad both teams are pulling in those numbers.
this........and I see no reason it cannot continue. There is way more money in Memphis than some people seem to realize.
The Memphis Metro area ranks 104th or in the top 37% of Metro areas in median household income which is higher than I thought. It is remarkable that Memphis strongly supports both a college and pro basketball teams.

The schedule isn't as bad as it first appears. It's just Prairie View A&M is an absolute embarrassment. That's almost as bad as playing a Div II team during the season like last year.
