RE: Bush or Obama- The Quiz
I don't argue... I saw Bush was a big govt neocon during his first term and voted third party in 2004.

RE: Bush or Obama- The Quiz
Bottom line--Bush was no conservative. That's what I've been saying for years.
He wore a cowboy hat and talked about Jesus a lot, but Bill Clinton was a better fiscal conservative--at least when he had Newt riding herd on him. You can dismiss that all you want, but Bush with a republican congress was no fiscal conservative.

Is that Bush's fault or Congress' fault?

When one party holds both you tend to blame the president because he is the "leader" of the party and the one guy with a veto pen. But you can't absolve the congress either.

Not really dealing with fault here. Just anticipating and responding to the usual response when I make this point about Clinton--oh, but it was the republican congress that dragged him into it. True, but even a republican congress couldn't drag Shrub to fiscal conservatism. And once democrats took back congress in 2006, he sold out completely.
Shrub and Zero have been the same president in many ways--wars we don't fight to win, record deficits, record debt, expensive health care boondoggles. It's not because Zero is conservative--or even moderate. It's because Shrub wasn't.
The biggest difference is probably that Zero treats our enemies better than Shrub treated our friends. To one whose basic concept of foreign policy is to treat your friends better than you treat your enemies, this is mind-bogglingly stupid on both of their parts.

RE: Bush or Obama- The Quiz
Owl, the only part of your post I'd dispute is the "expensive health care" when comparing the similarities between the two. Bush (not "SHRUB".. I hate when people use nicknames like that for our presidents) only tried to push for one (to my recollection) Health care issue and that was to allow for international drug prescriptions.
Other than that, I dont' think you can dispute too many of the other comparisons....

There was this as well.
Quote:Saying that Medicare Part D is a “fiscally sober entitlement plan” is sort of like saying that somebody is quite temperate — for a heroine addict. In 2011, according to the Medicare Trustees, the federal government spent $53 billion on prescription drug subsidies through the program. None of that is paid for either through a revenue stream or cuts to existing government programs. However inadvisable or difficult to implement, Obamacare did include tax hikes and cuts to projected Medicare spending to pay for its new expenditures. With Medicare Part D, Bush didn’t even pretend that the law paid for itself on paper.

Medicare Part D is correctly described as an expensive health care boondoggle.
As for the nickname part, I guess you'll just go on hating me because I'm going to go on using them.

RE: Bush or Obama- The Quiz
I forgot about the medicare D part.. so yeah, there was that.
as for the nickname issue, I have issues when people still use "Slick Willie" for Clinton, just like I have issues when people use "Shrub" for GWB for no reason other than because they want to assault the men in the only way they know how.

The difference is that Bill would consider his nickname a compliment.
