MAC Home Games vs. FBS Non-Conference opponents:
-Boston College (ACC) at UMass on Aug. 30;
-Marshall (Conference USA) at Miami on Aug. 30;
-Missouri (SEC) at Toledo on Sept. 6;
-Colorado (PAC-12) at UMass on Sept. 6;
-South Alabama (Sun Belt) at Kent State on Sept. 6;
-Baylor (Big-12) at Buffalo on Sept. 12;
-Syracuse (ACC) at Central Michigan on Sept. 13;
-Indiana (Big Ten) at Bowling Green on Sept. 13;
-Idaho (Sun Belt) at Ohio on Sept. 20;
-Marshall (Conference USA at Akron on Sept. 20;
-Army (Independent) at Kent State on Oct. 18;
MAC Home Games vs. FBS Non-Conference opponents:
-Boston College (ACC) at UMass on Aug. 30; Miles apart, no travel, Foxboro I am guessing.
-Marshall (Conference USA) at Miami on Aug. 30; close proximity, not giving up massive home gate
-Missouri (SEC) at Toledo on Sept. 6; give Toledo credit on this one. H/h (or 2-1) Coach w/ ties to MAC. Easy in/out.
-Colorado (PAC-12) at UMass on Sept. 6; going to Boston for a win in an empty stadium.
-South Alabama (Sun Belt) at Kent State on Sept. 6;S.Ala. Sure they don't care where they play, guessing no big following
-Baylor (Big-12) at Buffalo on Sept. 12; bit of head scratcher. Not sure when this was scheduled. Understanding at UB stadium. Guess they wanted to get out of Texas and get some wings. Again, big airport.
-Syracuse (ACC) at Central Michigan on Sept. 13;Another head scratcher.Not sure if there are any ties here. Other than H/H. (2-1?) Can't be easy to get to, fans will not go.
-Indiana (Big Ten) at Bowling Green on Sept. 13;h/h, will get some fans from NW 1/4 of Indiana there. Closer than Bloomington.
-Idaho (Sun Belt) at Ohio on Sept. 20;Idaho: The real we'll play anyone, any time.
-Marshall (Conference USA at Akron on Sept. 20; again, not a big time attendance team, fans will drive a few hours there. They can say they saw Lebron's house.
-Army (Independent) at Kent State on Oct. 18; Not a big time program. For all the vets in Cleveland I guess.
Not many of these are big time, big attendance programs. Missouri and Baylor are giving up big gates. Kudos for those who got them to come. As I have said before, airport/fan access is key. Yes, the team can now fly into DeKalb, but anyone else has to travel a bit. Not saying Toledo is the ideal vacation spot, but at least they have hotels and an airport. I have no idea who would ever want to go to CMU to play.
The Missouri game is a one for one. In the last ten years the only times Toledo has a one and done, that I know of, was Michigan and Florida. UT had a two for one with Ohio State with UT being the home team at Cleveland Browns Stadium, but I believe that is the only two for one we have done in recent memory. That was a complete sell out and ended up being a good money maker. All future games on the schedule are one for ones except we have now added some FCS opponents in some years like NIU and those are one and dones as in our favor. I believe they were done to offset the Michigan and Florida one and dones and the extra game with Ohio State. Because we havent done many one and dones we always have six home games. Next year we have seven home games, which will be pretty cool. I just looked at future schedule and we only have one of these one and dones with Arkansas and that is it. Every other match up is a one for one. Here is the link so you can look at other MAC schools future scheduling, I also included the NIU future scheduling which I know your AD is trying to fix.

The U is a good one for one in name for sure, let's hope they can be a really solid team again. Looks like Arkansas also isn't returning the favor or is that date just not set for them to go to Toledo?
Thanks for the info.
Arkansas is a one and done. You are correct that is the only one on our schedule going foward. It appears that our AD is now trying to do one for one's with other good peer opponents like Fresno State, Nevada, Tulsa and Boise State. We have done that in the past with Boise and Fresno before as they have both been to the Glass Bowl.

Better yet, how do we replace those guarantees?
Not sure but 4 years of away games is ridiculous. At least turn one of them back into a Soldier Field game..
The crap of this deal is that they changed it while we didn't have an AD..
And they tried to spin it like it was some huge score for NIU to lock up a Big Ten team when they had changed their OOC sheduling policy. No thanks. I'd love to go see NIU play at Nebraska... once.
Me too. 4 times @Nebraska is ridiculous.
We HAVE to get out of two of those games for sure!

Easy way to get out of them...win one of the first two, good chance the next two will get bought out.

RE: Schedule Announcement preview...
My thought at this point is we shouldn't even bother to play a 1-AA school on the schedule going forward. It just hurts our already weak SOS (from the conference) which will become more important when it comes time to bowl selections.
It's really very simple at this point, play 2 major conference teams, 2 outside our conference mid major teams(i.e. conf USA, Sun-belt, MWC, etc.) plus our conference schedule. We can handle this now.

NIU was a win away from playing in back to back BCS bowls. SOS means pretty much dick when it comes to bowl selections.

Not under the new format now that the BCS went away. A selection committee (which includes Condeleza Rice) will be taking a look at SOS when they are selecting a team from a non BCS conference to play in one of the top tier bowls every year.

Access Bowl spot is the dream for NIU and every other G5 team. Playoffs aren't happening. EVER.
Give me 1 SEC/B1G/B12 team each year mixed in with top tier MWC, American teams. It would give us the best shot to play in Peach Bowl, Cotton Bowl etc.
Beating a top tier G5 team with like opponents would mean more than beating up on a ****** P5 (Purdue, Kansas)

"Beginning tomorrow, we will be announcing one new home-and-home series every day this week (click here for the release). SchedulePalooza is more than just a catchy name. It's the result of a year of nose-to-the-grindstone work."
You have to save the best one for last.

Don't forget the fine print that allows independent Notre Dame to make the playoff IF the Irish are ranked as high as No. 5 or 6 when the top seed beat a 2,3 or 4 seed from their conference based on a Sept. meeting .... or some such b.s. clause.

That would be Friday 8/1. SF's 1 Year Anniversary as a Huskie.

Per Sean Frazier:
" In this new era of the College Football Playoff, when one (1) team from what has been dubbed the "Group of 5" will receive access to one of the host bowls each year, scheduling has become even more critical. We have had two primary goals in mind while putting together the series' that we will announce this week:
• Arranging home-and-home games against national programs in order to bring quality opponents to Huskie Stadium.
• Putting NIU in the best position to succeed in the new College Football Playoff system.
We want to play the best teams from our fellow Group of 5 leagues - that includes the Mountain West, the American Athletic Conference and Conference USA. Going forward, we must have a quality non-conference schedule to be attractive to the College Football Playoff Committee.
In addition to the Group of 5 opponents, we have aggressively pursued series with teams in the "Power 5" leagues. Some of those teams have taken our calls, some have not, and that's OK. I assure you, there are national names and Power 5 teams involved in this week's SchedulePalooza."
