He may have a legit reason so there is a chance that he may not do it.

I hope that he qualifies.

SMU picked up transfer from VT today. That should help. SMU is stockpiling talented players either way.

still, this would be huge blow. His school, Prime Prep, is Deion Sanders' school. They've had tons of players (BB and FB) cleared, so I don't know what the issue could be.

Core classes maybe? He is a very smart kid - nothing to do with grades.

It's official. I feel really bad for the SMU fans here. On the flip side you are loading up on other really talented players, so you will be fine. This does make UConn the clear favorite in the AAC title race next year tho.

Being an SMU fan means always expecting (and getting) the worst from the NCAA.

I feel sick.

I've never gotten how you can intend to play college ball, then the last summer before going away, you go "Woops! Didnt take the right classes!" How are there kids that aren't taking core classes? Math, history, science, English... It's not that hard to know you need four subjects.

Anyways, I like that it might make our games with SMU a bit easier, but I don't like that it might effect the conferences perception / rating if SMU ends up dropping OOC games that they might have won with Mudiay.

Not just a dark day for SMU, but a bad one for the AAC

Really tough news. Sorry Mustang fans.

I still think it's still a 3 way tie at the top. SMU is still very dangerous even without Mudiay. UCONN was behind them, now I'd say it's any mans game.

Considering that the conference was already going to be down -- really, really sucks for AAC basketball next season.

I really think this blows Brown's chance at a Final Four next year. Man, SMU had it going - and still does but not near as impressive on paper. We'll see.

saying the issues are concerns over amatuer status - not grades.

I am really confused..SMU to release statement soon. Hopefully clears things up, but what a kick to the nads.

The news of Mudiay potentially heading overseas first reported by @WojYahooNBA -- although it's due to amateurism concerns, not academics.

Tough day for SMU, but better it came out now rather than later. SMU is still in good if not great shape for basketball in the near future.
