He is 21 years old. Pretty much the bones have capped off at that age and have stopped growing. He is listed as 6'4" to 6'6" depending on which source you decide is correct, and 240/245 lbs. Hard to imagine a NBA team wanting a player so undersized. He is aggressive on defense, he rebounds like he is much taller, he has quick feet, and he is very strong. He jumps like a cat so his weight is not a concern. Decent shooter, but his real game is going hard to the bucket. The only things he needs to work on to make the transition to D1 is to work on posting up and conditioning.

If he is athletic as reported he should be able to guard the 3...Now with him at the 3 he will either need to be able to handle well enough to penetrate from the perimeter or shoot well enough so the lane doesn't get so congested.

Yep...I just want kids who "leave it all out on the field" every time they suit up.

That is most likely. Can play 3 if needed...can guard the 2 or 3...may struggle against true power 4s...is very strong for his size though.

I don’t know about that. Can he shoot well enough to play the Stretch 4? His game has been facing up & driving which is totally different from what Austin does. This would probably require the team to run different sets for whoever is in at the 4.
This usually isn’t a big deal but we do have a lot of new players who haven’t played together. TBO I wouldn’t be surprised what we’ll see with this team.

We had the size down low last year, at last. Now we're adding strength (with Austin's development and with Chris). A slimmer, stronger Dom with Shaq and Nick adds up to a lot of beef. I'm excited. I want to see us start dominating the paint. Hope the pieces are in place to do it.

Hawkins shot 70.4% from the field. That oughtta give players in the paint a little more breathing room.

How you figure? That number indicates to me that he is shooting the ball very close to the room the vast majority of the time. He is not a guy that spaces the floor. If anything, he is a guy defenders would sag in off of on the perimeter.

I just figure 70.4 is good no matter what why or how. Even a foot would be more breathing room.

Someone who has only seen a video of him in a layup line; who has never seen him play, asking another poster "how you figure?" Funny stuff.

Personal opinion after seeing him play, live, several times. He's a guy who dominated the paint at the jc level with strength, hops and athletic ability. Gets to the rim at will at that level. Can shoot from the outside and has great form and lift from out there. That's just a bonus though as he is a strong, strong post player. He's an extremely explosive guy at 245-250 lbs. Don't know that we've had anyone similar in a while. Maybe Sylvester but this kid is a bit more polished. Sylvester was strictly a 4, IMO and one of the most gifted athletes ever here.
