It has been said that, in the world of conference realignment, baseball is important.
Who said that?

While I understand why he would take the position, I can't help but be disappointed if he does. His recruiting class this year has been great, and I feel like he could definitely take the program to a different level.

Then there is the question of how much of his recruiting class would go with him to Indiana (or somewhere else) instead of coming to UC?

Though not having much knowledge of baseball recruiting, I would imagine with an out of state coaching change that the current in-state recruits might not be as likely to go with him to IU due to baseball mainly being partial schollies and the significant jump of out of state tuition.

UC needs to have some success across the entire athletic dept. Sure Fball typically drives the realignment bus. However, for a school in UC's position, the athletic department needs to be success across all of its sports.

Depends on if they are let out of their LOI.

Excited to announce a contract extension for @lhpseeker. Great days ahead for our baseball #Bearcats! http://bit.ly/1jKhJDm
SOOO happy to hear this. I honestly thought we lost him the second that Indiana job opened up, which would in turn decimate the recruiting class he put together (unless theyve already signed). Either way, great news for the baseball program and the AD as a whole. Nice work, Bohn! Cangrats and thanks, Coach Neal!

+1. It's time for people to buy into the baseball program. I am going to admit I have not gotten season tickets to UC Baseball. With this announcement I am going to go ahead and purchase season tickets for next year.... maybe contribute some more to the department as well.
I recommend others do the same. The baseball season tickets are cheap as hell.

Not only am I happy, I'm absolutely shocked Ty had all the makings of the #1 man on IU's list. Yes, I admit I pretty much figured him to be gone.

Is the Big10 really that good of a baseball conference? It seems the AAC with its southern schools have an edge over the Big10.
Who wants to play baseball in Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin and Nebraska in March and April? I think Tampa, Orlando, New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, Memphis, and North Carolina are better destinations. Say what you want about this "crappy" conference, the demographics and locations are better.
I think college baseball can be good here, as Cincinnati has long been a baseball town that has produced a lot of good talent. We have the facilities and the interest would be there if the product improved.
As far as baseball being important, I've passively noticed a lot of exposure on ESPN. People are aware and pay attention to the College World Series. UC being on tv in the "off-season" would be a good thing.

IU hired Chris Lemonis, a Louisville assistant. They made a great hire. He was at the top of my wish list when we were searching for a coach last year. I am pretty sure he was at the top of Whit's list as well.

Big 10 baseball is better only in name recognition. They did get Indiana to the College WS last year however that doesn't happen every year. While Big 10 baseball has increased the committment level in facilities, coaching salaries, over recruiting etc. it still lacks in one of the most important recruiting tools and that is weather. That isn't changing anytime soon!!!!!
