RE: Building the boat
There's a part in that video where Nichol states that your in the weight room 2 hours a day and that gives the athlete 22 hours to screw up what they just accomplished... and how they have to really ingrain what to do with that 22 hours... Just thought that was cool... It is also interesting to note that there is no other coach on the staff that the players see and interact with more than the strength and conditioning coach(es)... This guy sounds for real... Elite in/Elite out... I imagine we are going to see a stronger team this year...

I will note one thing about the team last year... even though they looked lost at times and seemed a little overwhelmed... I never saw them break down physically... they seemed to be flying around the entire game... that shows something.

RE: Building the boat
my opinion (and yes this is just opinion) on the rash of injuries last year and who/what was at fault has more to do with a mentality shift. I think, after watching that video that the SC coaches are instilling much more competition between the athletes... looks like they are competing with each other daily in the weight room and on the practice field... I think the players themselves probably pushed themselves past their own limits in an effort to change their best... Now we can argue why the coaches put them in that position, but I would say that given a good year of training under this new system, eating right, sleeping right, training right... that this competition will have much more benefits than fallout... last year was also likely more fluke than anything... fingers crossed.

So if last years off season injuries were do to a lack of conditioning does that fall on the SCC who had been on board for 3 months, or on the one who had been in place for years?

Not blaming anyone yet, all I'm saying is that if we the amount of injuries this year that we had last year someone isn't doing something right. I'm going to assume last year was just one of those we can't have anything nice because we are bronco fans years and not a trend.

I will say this based on my experience, knowledge, and opinion FWIW:

If players spend two hours a day in weight room, you're doing something wrong.

Danger of over-training and-or burnout is very real. Which increases likelihood of injury and decreased performance on the field.

flush - of course they spend more time with SAC coach in Off-Season, because there are NCAA limitations on how much time the coaches (HC, coordinators, position coaches) can spend with them. And the latter are busy with recruiting until after LOI day anyway.

That is not unique to us. It's SOP.

I agree with this. We would goto south haven a few times a year back in my day. My first few years we had a legit strength coach last I knew he was with Kansas city.

^Should be safe there in the first quarter, provided it's in the opponents end zone.
