RE: Sunday elimination game vs. Aggies
Ok, so the pitch count at the beginning of the 6th was 66, not 60.

67: FB 84, ball
68: FB 89, hit
69: CH 74, dirt
70: FB 85, low (mound visit)
71: FB 86, low and outside
72: FB 86, K (low)
73: FB 83, K (low) 3-2
74: FB 87, foul
75: FB 86, 3-4, 1 out, man on 1 (ahem, and like the SHSU, TCU play, the runner slides through the base under the fielder, though less violently)
76: FB 88, K (discussion about boydsworld)
77: FB 86, hit (runners on 1st and 2nd)
78: CH 75, B
79: CH 77, B (hand visible in glove)
80: FB 87, hit (men on 1, 2, 3)
81: CH 76, (hand visible) squib "hit" to score a run, men on 1, 2, 3
82: CH 76, B high (hand not visible to camera)
83: FB 88, foul tip
84: FB 87, long, long, foul (hand not visible), count 1-2
85: CH 76, foul (hand not visible)
86: FB 88, foul (hand not visible)
87: CH 77, foul (hand visible)
88: CH 77, B in dirt (hand not visible), 2-2
89: FB 89, foul (hand not visible)
90: CH 77, B in dirt (hand not visible), 3-2
91: FB 88, long long foul
92: FB 89, home run

Three changeups in the dirt, 4 other changeups for balls, 1 foul, one "hit". 9 changeups that weren't very effective in the sixth.

Average fastball is 86.8, but it's skewed by three of the first five fastballs being 85 or under (none of the subsequent ones were), so you can see how the perception is that his fastball was off.

I couldn't really see how the Aggies were signalling the pitches. I could see him reach to his face or hat after the sign but before the windup. So, I wonder if they were stealing signs as much as seeing something McDowell did. But, my opinion is pretty uninformed and raw. I have only a vague idea of what the runner would look for and no clue how they would signal back to the batter.

It did seem like Rice had changed up the signs with runners on 2nd.

Thanks. I had already deleted the game from my DVR, but my recollection was that McDowell hadn't really lost anything on his fastball. Just didn't want to write it without any evidence since I didn't pay attention to the velocity after every pitch, just a few of them. He certainly looked tired, sweating up a storm.
