My bad. Two lazy outs (by Byrd who is leading off, and Warren who gets his first regional action) and then a 2-out single by Cook. Hunter K starting behind the plate for Reeves too. Ewing flies out to right (after a Cook SB) so nothing doing in the first.

Nice play by McDowell to snag the on-the-ground, near-errant throw from Ewing for B1's 3-1 first out.

E3 and a kick off the fence allows a runner to second. 1 out.

They called it a double but it could have been an E3 for sure. 2 outs now.

Then a ball down the first-base line scoots a foot below Ewing's glove for a 1-out double. Another of several balls at Reckling this weekend that haven't bounced as high as the infielders have expected. Presumably a soggy-ground effect.

Exhibit A for the futility of comparing college and professional fielding stats.

Not Ewing's finest hour here.

Ewing needs coffee.

And after walking an Aggie, another beats out a single on a bouncer to Ewing, who waved off McDowell, but then couldn't get there in time. Great hustle by the Aggie. Bummer for us.

Whew. We get out of it but don't look sharp at all in the field. McDowell throws 21 pitches when he probably should have been half that if his fielders helped out more.

The first out wasn't exactly well done by Skyler either...

Fortunately no damage, nice work Chase.

Scary third out ... "Rice is playing with fire here in the first inning" ... Routine grounder to Tekyl ... who bobbles it. But gathers it in in time to throw to Ewing for the putout. Whew!!

Scoreless tie going to T2.

Got out of it with no damage. McDowell needed 20 pitches though. Ewing's got a friend at the scorer's table. Could've (and probably should've) been 2 E3's. Wake up guys.

Sure could use some runs.

ESPN3 announcer: Not counting the 8th inning against George Mason, Rice is hitting just 0.177 this weekend. Wow.

That figure goes down a little with Aquino's K and two weak flyouts in T2.
