The regionals are all scheduled for Friday - Monday (with Monday, if necessary, should the losers bracket winner beat the winners bracket team in their first meeting on Sunday)-- correct? In other words, we need to book our travel through Monday evening?

Check my math on this, but if Rice were to win the national title this year, we would have at least as many wins in 2014 as the Astros did in 2013. 04-cheers

We've debated this is an different thread. Clearly, Ditman will not be available, and if Lemond pitches, he will be limitted to one inning (to regain his confidence). Should McCanna get the start, he'll almost certainly be limitted to 2 - 3 innings and a maximum of 35 - 40 pitches. I would guess McCarthy would get the start if it's not Kevin...and should we have a lead after the 4th inning, Teykl will be asked to bring it hom, just as Ditman was so tasked yesterday.

You had all the correct players, just the wrong roles.

Aquino lashes his first pitch deep to left, but foul. Then pops up foul to short right field; Roadrunners collide but the first baseman catches the fly. Cook tags up to score the Owls' first run! WooHoo!

Very heads up play by Cook.

As expected, we went five games and used all plausible arms, 8 in total. (McCanna, Fox, McDowell, Duplantier, Ditman, McCarthy, Tekyl, and Lemond). As the TV show declared, eight is enough.

Obviously we will face a tougher field next weekend than the CUSA tourney, and having Zech in an uncertain state is worrisome.

I am very excited about our offense. My guess is that our defense needs to be flawless to get through next weekend.

Props to Hunter K for the leadoff hit to spark a rally. He hadn't been to the plate in quite a while.

Ask him when you get a chance.

If you didn't want to use McCanna unless you had to, it would seem logical that you use others first. Both Teykl and McCarthy were both capable of bringing it home individually or in combination. McCanna was the ace card and pitched just like one.

Very confusing way to do tickets. It took me a couple of attempts.

+1

They were nice enough. There was some chemistry between them, but neither one cares anything about College Baseball in general, or CUSA Baseball in particular. So in other words, just like ESPN will do the rest of the post season.

If the tournament officials voted on an All-Tournament Team, they haven't posted it yet. But there should be at least 6 Owls who make one:

MVP Michael Aquino, OF, .571 BA, 7 R, 2 HR, 10 RBI
Skyler Ewing, 1B, .476 BA, 7 R, 1 HR
Ford Stainback, SS, .412 BA, 5 RBI, & 1.000 FP
Leon Byrd, OF, .368 BA, 4 R, 3 RBI
Chase McDowell, UT/DH, .438 BA, 5 R, 6 RBI, 6.1 IP, 1.48 ERA, .182 BAA
Kevin McKenna, RHP, 2-0, 11.1 IP, 2.38 ERA,
Blake Fox, LHP, 1-0, 7.0 IP, 7 SO, 1.29 ERA, .136 BAA

And UTSA would probably get at least 3 slots: Wellborn, Bormann and Hartson.

Wayne got in a zinger against the NCAA's bats & balls in the C-USA's recap of today's victory:

Quote:Rice tacked up five more runs on six hits in the ninth to put the game out of reach, with Aquino, McDowell, Byrd and Stainback supplying run-scoring singles.

"When you do that, it was pretty much over, because we had a strike-thrower out there pitching, and with these balls and bats, it's almost impossible to mount that kind of rally," Graham said.

Here's a link to the C-USA's video recap on Facebook. It includes interviews with OG, Aquino & McCanna ... and four+ views of Michael's homerun.
