I think it's mostly heat related. But his final swing in the top half of the inning and run to first looked a bit labored. Good move to get him out of there and let him rest up for the regionals.

I'd bet dead tired and semi-heat related.

Ryan is looking good, and very efficient (5 outs in 13 pitches!), BUT he better start getting the ball down in the zone or he's going to get burned.

Besides Hunter K is Mr. June (but again I hope and think Reeves is fine, just gassed).

Cook out, 4-3, on 2-2 grounder.

B6:

Leadoff ... Perucki hit on 2-1 pitch! Grrr.

OG visiting the mound.

Borman hits an infield single between 3rd & short. Stainback gets to it, but throw is late. Two on, no outs.

This. Wish he'd gotten more at bats during the regular season.

Don't get Wayne's use of pitchers today. If he was going to use Kevin, why not start HIM, and limit his pitch count...then let Teykl go as far as he needs to go to close it? What do we do now if mcCanna doesn't have it, or if he labors?

Now McCarthy pitching:

Baker with an 0-2 count ... swinging foul; fouled back; popped up to short right. Caught by Connor T.

One out. Runners still at 1st & 2nd.

Pickering at bat: ball; ball; "lined into left field ... a base hit." Lead runner holds at 3rd. Bases loaded. Two outs.

"A wise decision as Aquino was quick to get that ball back in."

Welborn at bat: low; "High chop to 3rd ...Hoelscher can't reach it." Two runs score. Arrrgh.

UTSA leads, 5-4.

Somewhat misjudged by Hoelscher, but one run would have scored anyways. Need to get this win with the UH victory.

"Infield conference" called by Jim Blair, UTSA's associate head coach.

Pop up to Byrd ends it, though. Whew.

UTSA leading 5-4 after 6.

Gotta get the lead back now, Rice!

Everything from both Ryan and Kevin up in the zone. I'm sure that's why Wayne took McCarthy out.
