RE: Semi-OT: Aggie Football Player Arrested for Assaulting Rice Student
Would be great if we could invite more A&M players (preferably starters) to Hanszen public parties prior to the Sept 13 game. Need sign up list of Rice students willing to be punched for a good cause.

RE: Semi-OT: Aggie Football Player Arrested for Assaulting Rice Student
In all seriousness, this A&M team does not intimidate me. There defense is once again going to be extremely porous, and their offense will be starting an inexperienced QB. Now maybe they come out and shock South Carolina their first game, but I'd be very surprised if that occurred. Of our two big non-conference games, A&M is definitely the easier of the two. Also, Aggies are beginning to doubt Sumlin and his control over the team, which is a marked change from the "Swagcopter" days. Of course, they are still of the belief that "#WRTS".

Not proud of this, but the accused puncher is transferring to UH. I'm all for 2nd chances, but seemed like a pretty punk move to sucker punch somebody.

Aren't the legal proceedings still ongoing? I guess you buy when the stock is low, but man, if I was a coach I wouldn't want any part of that.
Also, we need to have a Bayou Bucket before his eligibility is up. I'm sure the MOB is taking notes.

Earliest would be 2016. I'm guessing our squads won't play for a while, though.

And that's a mistake IMO. And I fear it's more on Rice than on UH. But here's hoping we can get that changed.
You take two athletic programs that are both having financial limitations, and give them an opportunity to play all sports, every year, with larger than normal crowds and potential sellouts in all of them, and zero travel costs, and that's somehow NOT a slam dunk to jump on that?

Our AD holds a grudge. Whether he's right or wrong to feel that way, someone else can weigh in.
When we needed to lease your stadium last season, the presented contract was different than what was verbally agreed upon. We agreed to pay a facility fee and let Rice keep concessions and parking. Rice also wanted a percentage of ticket sales - information presented the day of the contract signing. Our AD said that was out of the question. We were the ones marketing the game and playing the game. And so the deal dissolved, and we played at BBVA instead.
It's not a coincidence that our series discontinued after that.

From what I understood, there were issues about the locker rooms and the field paint that we would not budge on since our season was still going on and I felt we were right in not budging on them. I have no idea about that contract stuff. There is two sides to every story, but the locker room and field paint stuff was pretty widely reported.
I would hope Dr. K could extend an olive branch (and I know for a fact he is very interested in getting the series restarted), but if Rhoades doesn't want to get over it even though leadership at our athletic department has changed, that is his problem and his alone. And both universities lose because of it.

I don't see what UH is losing. Rice needs to play UH more than UH needs to play Rice. Rice doesn't bring any fans to our campus, while UH is always the biggest draw at Rice when you don't get to count your game against UT at Reliant.

Rice gets to keep the parking? What a deal!
Isn't parking free at HRS football games?

The change gave me a chance to see BBVA. It got so cold I left at the half and went over to the Rice-Princeton basketball game.
