+8 WOOHOO.....04-bow It's gettin hot in here.....Someone that knows how to call a spade a spade.... It's not only about hiring....although hiring is a big part of it.....Josh has to adopt a philosophy within himself to allow the coaches to have an impact on the game and the players......"Joshs' way" Aint gonna get it done at this level....our players must be more disciplined and players need to understand and adopt roles to maximize their potential, as well as the teams overall potential......Players also need development IE Adonis;Geron;Shaq;Tarik;Austin;Iverson;Wilson;King and the new guys coming in.....and it's not all physical, there are mental aspects of the game that are just as important if not more.....Josh does not inhibit the ability to get that out of his players.....Therefore, Josh first has to admit that(within himself),come to that realization ; Then surround himself and the players with staff that can(instead of bringing in his buddies) and allow them(stop being the obsessive-compulsive control-freak) to have a positive impact on the team/players and results.......

The reason why Damon was allowed to do this and why he is such a devastating loss, Is because he was a "Josh buddy" (Arizona affiliated) so he was trusted by Josh, therefore allowed more leeway and rope to be an influence and it resulted in success......Josh has to "let go, and let coach" As he is NOT capable of transcending this program to championship level based on HIS philosophies alone.......07-coffee3

One of these things is not like the other. 07-coffee3

Yup.

Bruce Pearl X and O guy was his 3rd assistant.

Shay? He made $150K, years ago.

I am not 100% convinced of the "there is not enough dollars" for the 3rd assistant coach position. For the "right guy," and we can debate what the "right guy" is, I would think the $ could be secured.

I know, easy for me to say as I don't pay the bills, but in the world of big-time college athletics, I would think you can get the $ to get who you want.

I'm sure Pastner could ask. However, like any manager, I'm sure he has a budget for staff. And, we have two very well respected and well paid assistants in Kirby and Collins. The third guy just can't make that much.

Calkins does not think it is a problem. It is easy to tell others how to spent their money.

And who to hire; wonder if he asks Pastner when the CA has an opening who they should hire.

we could outsource the position to China and get a couple dozen new assistants for the price of one in America.

Why not, everyone else is doing it. Make that India though.

Good point. Then when I can't understand them I will at least know they are speaking English. Works for Comcast.
