RE: The AAC needs to go after Villanova

If they wanted D1 football they would have have forced the issue before the C7 split and most of the AAC would still be in the BE splitting the fees and the BB credits from the departing schools (Pitt, Cuse, Rutgers, WV, and ND). The BE would have had a larger TV contract too with the C7 aboard.
BE Football:
East: UConn, Nova, Temple, ECU, UCF, USF
West: Navy, Cinn, Memphis, Houston, Tulane, SMU
BE BB: 11 FB schools + Georgetown, Providence, St Johns, Seton Hall, Marquette, and DePaul - 16 game single round robin BB league.
Tulsa, Creighton, Xavier, and Butler remain in their old conferences.
I'll play
If I could form a conference from programs above ^^^ plus three dark horses... This will be my conference proposal;
EAST: UConn, Temple, Cincinnati, ECU, UCF, USF
WEST: Houston, SMU, Navy, UNLV, Memphis, Tulane
BB: Georgetown, St. Johns, Marquette (I let Tulane decide on this one), Wichita State, and UMass
Tulane would be upset over the addition of Marquette - but then they would be immediately overpowered by Memphis, UConn, Cincinnati, and Temple on the matter.
Tulane is salty about the Marquette situation, but the truth of the matter is that the two schools have more history together than they want to admit AND they also don't really get in each other's way.
We are not talking about Villanova-Temple levels of beef, folks.
I can't stand Marquette, but they would actually be the BEST olympic sports add for the AAC. Marquette is a big reason why the Big East TV contract was as good as it was.
The other three adds that also would make sense would be: SJU, Georgetown, and DePaul. All three put the conference in places that it currently ISN'T.
The Big East schools are VERY happy in their current configuration. None of them will move until one of the four events happens:
1. Defections lower conference value
2. Some ugly backroom event takes place
3. The AAC becomes MORE valuable than the Big East
4. ESPN tells certain Big East schools that they'll spike payout to 5M+ if they join the AAC
Until one of the above hapens, there is no reason for any of them to move.
