Unbelievable for a guy with 2 NCAA tournament victories...

You mad bro? I doubt your wallet is any thinner.

You are the guy in the minority. Do we just excuse being curb stomped in this game or aknowledge we can and should do better? Should we just accept mediocrity as our fortune?

We were not mediocre. We got a tough seed and had to play a #1 seed in a road game. I had hoped we would do better. But from what I've seen from the core of this team, I'm not surprised at all. I expected this and called it out on MT.org after the MSU beat down. Lets see with the new guys coming in how things go. If we have the same issues, I think the 'powers that be' will take notice.

Don't let those little but holes get tight.

We absolutely need some "men" on this team.

Getting a bad seed is losing a hard fought game and you matched up badly with a superior team. Losing in the manner we have lost the last few is getting to be most disturbing. Nobody wants it to end this way, it's just hard to justify it not being a coaching problem.

you're giving him too much credit. for all we know, pastner could have coached the game of his life. i believe he's trying. i'm just not convinced that he knows what he is doing.

I believe he might step down, not take a better paying job, just a less stressful one.

You are talking about a guy who earned 2 degrees in 4 years while playing D1 basketball. I doubt 'stepping down' has ever crossed his mind.

those degrees are in smiling and clapping. i'd say he's putting them to good use.

Cjp needs to hire a defensive-minded coach. Plain and simple. Its clear we dont even understand the defensive fundamentals of basketball. Aside from our offensive woes, i think making this hire would be extremely helpful.

four straight trips to the NCAAs for starters.
That is a big deal.

And if that's the goal of your program, great. Personally, we crossed that bridge years ago. If that's all you want, you're backing up and I hope that's not reality here because if it is it's really sad.

I agree completely. My friends and I got a laugh out of it, but my GF said last night "Josh needs to hire a defensive coordinator."

He now has an entire summer to work with the younger guys on D. Let's hope that's just what he does.

So someone like you would rather not play post season ball because you didn't get as many wins as you thought we should.
Got it. If that's how you think then you'll never get it.

Fact of the matter is that Memphis' longest NCAA year to year is five straight years. When Pastner takes next year's team to the tourney he'll have tied that run in his first six as a head coach ever.

Let's see if you can try and begin to comprehend this. (I already know the answer tho)

Wrong. Again, if your goal is to simply get to the tourney then, well, we have different goals.

The Memphis basketball job is regarded by practically every college basketball analyst as an elite job. Pastner is in the top ten salry earners, and probably enjoys a similar level budget. Simply making the NCAA is not and should not be our goal, but rather the minimum.

and we are one of a handful of teams to make the tourney the 8 out of the last 9 years. to make a run in the tourney, you have to actually get there. I don't think anyone is happy with the way the game went yesterday, but where was all this vitriol when we had a parade for Cal's NIT championship team? CJP is in year 5 of being a head coach, overall...unless there are people on this board who are writing his checks, he isn't going anywhere unless he goes on his own.
