Why? He will make enough money to never work again even if we fire him in two or three years. He is young enough he will always have more opportunities in coaching, even if not on the high level we want to be on.

He doesn't want to not work. That's why he doesn't sleep hardly. He works really hard. He is driven. He wants to be that next great coach, and he wants it to be here. He just needs to go back to being an asst. having made a fortune and now learn how to be that guy.

In general, I don't think Josh is the sort to quit, and I don't think he's getting any tempting offers anytime soon.

When he's leaving, he'll find out at the hot dog stand unless he gets a lot better in the next few years. And it could happen. Stranger things have.

"next few years"? no way he gets a few years. he has next season to get it done or he has to go.

He looks good, he speaks well, amazing at recruiting, wins most games, a generally nice guy, and people with money were fearful of another coaching search.

Not shocking.

Who cares if he can't get over the hump.

No, that was the old regime. Under this one, he will be brought into the office and be told that the University is going to "move in a new direction... a new paradigm."

Damn Caulkins screwed up the Scott Drew hire. He would have been PERFECT for Tiger Basketball.

The Deal was DONE and Geoffs article made RC second guess his decision.

What to total FUBAR

Maybe Josh does not want the heat and he takes a Division II job or somewhere where the basketball Program is not under the microscope. The stress he suffers, some of it his own doing, cannot be good for himself and his family. He takes losing too hard.

I believe he might step down, not take a better paying job, just a less stressful one.

You are talking about a guy who earned 2 degrees in 4 years while playing D1 basketball. I doubt 'stepping down' has ever crossed his mind.

Hold tight. I do believe pastners about to put in his notice. He can't handle the pressure of a top 15 program & Memphis folk about to start making it known they expect better.

What are you talking about? Why would I be mad at someone for getting paid as munch money as someone is willing to pay them? How many other coaches with 2 or less NCAA tournament wins makes that much money? That is the point, not whether I feel I have a right to be mad or not...

You drunk bro?

You are the guy in the minority. Do we just excuse being curb stomped in this game or aknowledge we can and should do better? Should we just accept mediocrity as our fortune?

Unfortunately no. But the cats who gave him that big raise probably were. Unless they were matching another offer, which is possible. But that is not the story on MT.org. So it must not be true.
