Both of these tournaments are a joke and I have no interest in ever playing in either of them under any circumstances.

The CBI and CIT banners in your arena will be an even bigger joke when both tournaments are defunct in the not too distant future.

I agree. ASU turned the CBI and CIT town publicly either last year or the year before, and pretty much made it known that we are not interested in a pay for play postseason tournament

Our fans supported the decision. I know other schools where the opportunity to keep playing and win is nice. But our argument was that we weren't spending 45K to host a game in which 2K might show up to watch because of general lack of fan interest in such a tournament.

I do think that once you turn down a bid, its hard to be invited back. So if MTSU is comfortable with that, as ASU Was...I think its a wise decision. CIT and CBI banners are sort of like the football and basketball state playoffs in Arkansas. designed to give everyone the chance to play postseason instead of only the elite.

First, let me say a couple of things, one I am not reply to just your post as other have made the false statement several times and I'm not just jumping in because my team is playing in CIT.

Okay, now let's get this right and address these out right false statements. These tournaments are NOT pay to play, they are pay to host. Again, NOT pay to play, pay to host. There is a reason why, these are younger tournaments that don't have the TV deals or Corporate backing that the NCAA and NIT have. Most the host fees go to reducing travel costs and to help make sure every team at least breaks even. Many choice not to host because they know they don't have the fan support or stadium size to make the money back. But, teams like UTEP, ECU, Weber St., ODU, and others do. They can make money of these tournaments.

These tournaments are no less a racket than the NIT, NCAA tournaments or the Bowls games in FB for that matter.

So let's stop with the false statements. Now, should you play in them or not. Personally I don't care. If don't, fine, you do fine. I can see the agreement for a Senior laden team not playing vs a young team like ECU playing. Also, I think ECU should play this year if for no other reason than to defend our title. But, this is probably the last year ECU would be looked at anyway. Last year we (C-USA for that matter) was almost removed from CIT selection process because we as conference we being to be too good for it, with multi-NCAA bids and multi-NIT bids. The AAC is already not looked at by CIT because of the multi-NCAA bids and conference RPI. This may also be the last year a C-USA team is ever selected. With that in mind can we stop the bashing, one cause it isn't as bad as you say and for respect of the the schools, teams, fans, and posters that have teams in these tournaments and will do our best to not only represent C-USA well, but win the damn things. Cause if you aren't going into them to win, hell yes you should keep your arse home.

With your basketball history I understand your point getting a invite to any tourney is a good thing. When you have the following history you take the crumbs and be happy about it....

0 conference champions
0 weeks ranked
0 NCAA wins
2 NCAA bids
1 20 win season
14 years above .500
36 years below .500
only 7 out of 50 years with a .600 or above winning%

Programs like this should take anything who knows it might be the last time your fanbase get to enjoy any post season tourney. Going by history that's probably true for most ECU fans lifetimes on this forum.

While the muts don't have the overall history of WKU they do have recent history of being successful with 3 seasons of 24+ wins and feel like as a program this tourney is not what they want. As a WKU fan I would be embarrassed to walk into Diddle Arena and see a CIT or CBI banner hanging. Those tourneys are OK for schools with no history or schools coming off years of losing but other than that I don't see any benefit.

It's two weeks before the dead period in recruiting and to be honest if my school didn't win enough games to get to the NCAA or NIT as a fan I would rather our coaches spend the money and time out looking for that looked over player. As for the extra practice it's not going to mean anything 7.5 months from now

We have two conference titles and 3 conference tournament titles and 2 20+ win seasons. I know it's still next to nothing, but please refer to more than Wiki for information.
