RE: Coaches Caravan 2014 dates announced.
Dukeman once again shows how little he knows about FCS football. UConn was never in the CAA. They have been all sports in the Big East since the conference was formed. They played in the old Yankee Conference when they were a 1AA school. They and S. Fla. have found football success because they were invited to play in a BCS conference and the money that goes with it.

The rest of the schools on his list have yet to prove or do anything in FBS. Buffalo finally made it to a bowl game last year after their athletics program almost went bankrupt years ago. At that time, they had coaches being pulled off the recruiting trail due to a lack of funds.

I am all for FBS and being in a conference with these schools. I just think the conference we will be in may not have formed yet.

While UConn wasn't in the CAA, they were in the Atlantic 10 with JMU from 1997-1999. Those that don't do their research and rely on memory over facts (not mentioning any names- you already did), forget that the CAA was A10 before CAA football existed.

The A10 football conference was The Yankee Football conference before it was the A10 and that was the conference in which JMU and UConn first played together. Their time together in the A10 was not very long, which is why I did not reference it too. I wasn't exactly sure what year UConn left but I did just fact check your post and your are correct, it was 1997-1999 as the Yankee bacame the A10 in 1997.

so, lets get this straight. you call someone out for not using the right conference name (even though it is the same conference) and then you make the same mistake, but then you re-post to justify your mistake. So by your own logic, you either defended dukeman as well, or called yourself an idiot too.

stop nit picking. we all know from Yankee to CAA its been the same I-AA/FCS football conference, with some different memberships. His post was not about anything you are arguing about, but moreso the "changing landscape" of college football that JMU has "monitored" so well that we aren't a part of it.

Remember that homecoming game where JMU just boat raced UConn and Mike Connoly (sp?) ran all over them? That was a fun day. Man, I was drunk off my marbles that day.

I was not attached to JMU back then. As with most, I left JMU behind for a few years after graduation. How was this scheduling met by our fans? What were our records? How was attendance? etc., etc.

I do remember thinking that JMU should be moving up at any time and when it happens, I would start going back for the games. It wasn't until the championship year that I got hooked on JMU. With the expansion of BFS, my hope returned that we were about to take the leap. I'm a patient man, but its tough to stay energized.

In all seriousness, the '88 and '91 schedules were pretty awesome. '91 is the year JMU beat UD in the playoffs. I believe that was JMU's first football playoff win.

Yeah, that schedule listed isn't in the correct order. We played UD in the playoffs, but we weren't in the same conference, so we didn't meet in the regular season. we were I-AA independent, and I don't know if UD was in the Yankee conference yet at that point. Also, YSU was a playoff game.

YSU was not a playoff game that year. We played UD in the first round and Samford in the second round. My cousin Trey Weiss missed the game tying field goal as time was running out. Some say it was good and some say he missed it. The refs said he missed it so that was all that mattered. Samford was coached by Terry Bowden.
