They won't beat us on our home floor again. Nick Van Exel isn't walking through that door. This team wants and deserves another shot at the Bearcats.

Yeah, there's no way we could lose to Cincinnati four times in one season. Especially not with Hardaway on our team.
Oh wait! Nevermind.

I believe Memphis could have beaten any other team that year except Cincinnati. We should have met them in the NC game that year!

But I agree about the defense the problem with the box and 1 the bigs have got to guard the drives

We have to play mostly Zone.. The game the other night Cinci had 31 layups or dunks.. We can't guard them straight up man to man.. It has been proven twice already.. Just like UCONN did against them you have make them shoot outside..If we do get by UCONN I will be interested to see what we do..

If we had played zone the other night I don't think it would've helped much. They would've still driven to the hole because our defensive movement wasn't crisp at all. What are you going to do if we play zone and they kill us on the offensive glass? What will everyone say then

Your probably right about the other night but you have to do something different..UCONN doesn't play zone often but they realized that was there only chance and it worked.. Louisville beat Cinci playing man to man but they pressed over half the game and caused 19 to's and still had to hit a shot at the buzzer to win..

I agree, but my biggest worry is rebounding if we play mostly zone.

With that said it means nothing if we don't win Thursday

Yep that's right, it will be tough to win even though we have already lost 2 times to them..

I'm glad our games are at night - that should help us.

Hard to believe that we will probably have to beat 3 ranked teams to win the tourney. That's tough.

Amen.

And no- UConn fans- the players and coaches will not look past UCT- and everyone obviously knows UCT is a tough game. But fans can look ahead and even with Cincy winning both games- I prefer them- Louisville missed shots- that could improve. With Cincy- Memphis has the opportunity for adjustments and improvement.

And- while the tiebreakers kept tying- stunning they did not have some other tie breaking method before getting to a coin flip.

UL was LUCKY to lose the coin toss. They have a cakewalk to the Finals.

Cincy has to get thru Memphis or UCONN

5th.

A person could have won a boatload of money from folks on this board betting the tigers to finish 5th in the league this year.........

RE: Coin flip after the Louisville game
Biggest losers today- generically speaking- not even as a Memphis homer.

UConn- win and they get the three seed ad play Houston.

Lose and they get a near road game at a top 25 team with the emotional edge.

Cincy- wins the coin toss- and if form holds gets Memphis in the semifinals instead of likely SMU. Memphis again with home court advantage and the emotional edge from prior losses.

Of course- if they do meet and the game unfolds identically, Cincy will win with out too much drama. And we know every game unfolds the same.

We did not finish 5th. We tied for 3rd. The tie breakers only matter for tourney seeding. It goes down in the books as T3, just like UL and UC go down as co-champs.

good points Triple. I can't wait for this to get started. I wanted to play UConn, and I got my wish. This could be fun. I like it mostly because of two reasons. 1. I don't think that both UConn and Cincy can beat us three times this year. (Nick Van Excel isn't playing) and 2. We are playing at HOME.

as the saying goes, third time is the charm. seriously, we can beat uconn and cindy. the tigers have not had anything resembling a peak this season. next week and beyond is the time to take off. the tigers can do it.

Add 'crazy' to the list of names you can call me.

This will likely be a more difficult road than we will face to an Elite 8 in the NCAA's. If we can pull it off we will be ready. Three tough games in three days = preparation.

Bench depth and player rotation in these three days will be crucial in this tourney. Here's hoping that our depth will be used well and shine.

Stammers you are dead wrong on this one. Cincy has struggled to score against everyone but us. But they hit shots they don't normally hit, got a few early calls that put our bigs on bench and we probably played 2 of our worst games of year. Josh needs to make some adjustments- more zone- and I think our chances would be better than trying to beat Louisville 3 straight times.

I think Zone is the key.. Make them beat us outside, they are an inside team..UCONN beat them playing a zone.. I'm afraid if we face them and man up it will likely end with the same results..

All those top 25 wins you were clamoring about and we only get a 5 seed. Understand now why your thread was pointless to me.

I agree with your statement above.

RE: Coin flip after the Louisville game
In one game Cincy put up a lot of points. Many added late with intentional fouls and over playing- although even without those pushing up the final score- Cincy still scored more than they usually do.

The prior Cincy game was more in line by them- where even with intentional Memphis fouling at the end they scored 69- 6 in the final media session when Memphis was putting them on the line.

Cincy is tough because they are good-not because they had a singular game where Memphis played overall poor defense and their seniors all had really good games.
