The only got 2 recruits from the Columbus area though. OSU signed 4 from Cleveland and 2 from Akron and the rest were out of state. But more importantly, this makes 3 years in a row that OSU has gotten the top guy out of the greater Cincy area (Washington, Marshall, Hubbard)

Isn't Marshall from Middletown? That's not part of Cincy

Indeed

That always gets me. The people from Middletown I worked with had 513 area codes so that's what I deferred to. It's close. It looks like its included in the census for what it's worth. In that case, OSU didn't offer Shane Jones.

Takes me close to an hour to get up to middletown and im a half hour north of Cincinnati as it is

I just checked google maps and it says its 38 miles and 44 minutes to go from Paul Brown Stadium to Middletown. Regardless, it in the area.

Ben,

The distance from Middletown to Cincinnati is comprable of Newark to Columbus. It is part of the metro area but there is enough distance between the two cities that saying one is from the other city is a bit of a stretch.

Yeah I get that. If I'm not mistaken when Middletown plays in the playoffs they're in the bracket with Cincinnati teams. FWIW, I included a kid from Lancaster as "from Columbus" earlier, which is similar.

Boston College and Notre Dame do really well too, but MSU and BC don't recruit the same caliber of player that Alabama and OSU do.

I would put up Rush and Madaris against Washington and Kief any day.

BC and ND only do well because of religious influence, which oddly is still an influence here. I don't think you'd find many non-GCL kids who have gone to either in the past 5-10 years.

I don't know anything about Rush or Madaris, honestly. Kief probably got a boost in the rankings from being 6'5," but Washington is a monster. I didn't watch him in HS, but he was 290 as a true freshman and beat Taylor Lewan on the edge for a sack. He was hampered by injuries last year, and Joey Bosa took some snaps, but I expect him to be all-conference caliber this year.

Yeah Notre Dame is obviously a religious boost, but BC was odd to me until I just looked and realized that those are the only 2 Catholic FBS schools in the country.

Edit: I didn't realize Rush was already playing...but I don't think Washington's last year was a good evaluation of his ability.
