How about Marla Townsend. She is great in recruiting, her players would run through a wall for her, her teams never have any problems, and she takes her team to a bowl (ncaa's) every year.
Mackin was caught off guard by this, not sure if he had a nice little chat with McGee a few weeks ago though.
With that said, I would wonder if Mackin had a short list of candidates.
He may have some candidates due to the last go around that he may wish to revisit.
I would contact Neal, Clark, & another local college coach, but if Mackin decides to make a similar move to a Haase or Norton option, that would be fine as well.
A lot of people just didn't see the McGee hire as going south like it did.
Guy can recruit and he is not as bad as his last season at Auburn indicates. He lost control after Trooper Taylor got upset about him hiring Loefler, so he lost control of the team. Plus, he still has a buyout from Auburn and he may really want to get back coaching, so we can get him pretty cheap. I think he is worth the risk can't get much worse than McGee's defense.

Chizik loses the AU money if he signs somewhere else before 2015, I think.

Not true Auburn just has to make up the difference. So if we pay Chizik x amount of dollars and his buyout guarantees him y amount of dollars. Then, Auburn has to pay him y-x amount.
