This is a great post.

It is, the real issue isn't even why do we go 4 guard some, which is obviously a bad idea, it's why do we exclusively play 3 guards when we're not going 4 guard

I don't get on Josh that much because I appreciate who he is and what he represents. Memphis is lucky to have a guy like that and one that recruits like he has. That being said, I think he's missing to boat right now not without playing Austin with Shaq/Pellom more. Keep 2 of those 3 in there full time and we're much better.....

I co-sign this entirely. I think yesterday was another step in CJP's learning curve.

Yes, he's operating in extremes. Good coaches don't do that. Furthermore, it's not so much about "subbing enough", but rather who is getting subbed and who is still riding pine.

Just an opinion, but I think it would be very beneficial if those guys get some intense personalized coaching and fast.

If the coaches are afraid to play them as is, then maybe they can at least be taught to focus on only 1 or 2 things.

There are a lot of minutes that could be made available at that position if we could just get at least one of them better prepared to contribute---and quickly.

Kinda like Ok State and UC backed over our 4 guard lineup. Didn't even know they were there.

Einstein would therefore conclude using small ball which is the antithesis of what coach has preached (rebound, defend, play tough and strong) is in fact insanity.

Stubborn too. Oh well, might as well get used to being handled. Insane people tend to repeat said process....

I think you are going to get what you get with Josh. Until he starts holding ALL his players accountable for stupid and foolish mistakes, you can count on a lot of games like yesterday. I have been ref'ing for over 30 years and I don't see high school players jump in the air with nowhere to throw the ball as much as our so called senior gurds do. Plus, we flat get out toughed. They push, we don't push back. Also, hustle means nothing to our coach. We do nothing to try to get game to our tempo. I don't even get mad anymore.I ll be right there pulling for them again on Thursday but my days of getting mad are over.

Yep me too. Kinda gotten numb to the whole situation. I just really-really wonder though if Josh and some of our players even have a clue. No excuse for yesterday.

Calkin's article in today's paper is spot on.

Memphis took 37 shots in the 2nd half...32 of those came from the 4 guards, and 31 of those were missed. Austin didn't play in the 2nd half.

Pastner's lack of adjustments looked so familiar from the early 90s when we were notorious for not making adjustments in the 2nd half. That loss is on Pastner and his inability to make adjustments.

Doesn't make any difference because he obviously has the green light. So for us to win we'd better hope he gets hot and stays hot starting Thursday.

Watching the Grizz-Detroit game they spoke about Tayshaun being the only person in nba history I believe to ever play more mins in the POs than in the reg season and it was only because Detroit simply decided to give him a chance and he then blew up.

Kuran could be the same... couldn't be any worse than having 4 guards who miss 31 out of 37 shots to end the game......

31 of 32 according to the CA. There were 37 total so non guards shot 5.
