Stubborn ... CJP better get a damn grip ... I think most people will agree with Calkins. We gotta play more than 6.

Unbelievable! 03-weeping

RE: Geoff on Josh
Easy pickings.

So- after the first "bad" game Memphis played collectively in 10 games- then this stuff comes out.

I agree that Pastner should go to the bench more often. And even with some struggling of late Nichols for example should have played more minutes and maybe King or Iverson or Woodson a bit more (see Pastner not infallible). With that- I am comfortable with the team overall really relying on the Seniors. Which does not mean do not work on the rest.

But this was too easy. AFTER the loss you bring this up. Deep.

Nichols and Shaq will play better Thursday and we very well may win. That is how it works. They did not play well today- so had they played more (had Austin played more) maybe we win and maybe we would have lost by more.

4 guards is no good. If King was at the 4 we played 4 guards for 8 minutes. If he played the 3, we played 4 guards for 11 minutes.

CJP has to learn that riding the four senior guards will not be his saving grace. What he said today was not visionary or insightful, but just plain
stubborn-ness in the face of obvious evidence to the contrary. I like CJP
but he is wrong on this count (He needs to develop his bench asap with
more playing time) right now and he knows it. His senior guards can not
shoot a high percentage consistenty and that is a proven.

I can't understand why he is so hesitant to develop his talented, young big men. Austin struggles some, but so does Geron, Dixon, Jackson and Crawford. If he keeps those guys on the bench, then they'll leave with the 4 senior guards at the end of the season.

So let me get this straight early on in his tenure he subbed too much now he doesn't sub enough. Pastner just can't win with some of you.

I don't get on Josh that much because I appreciate who he is and what he represents. Memphis is lucky to have a guy like that and one that recruits like he has. That being said, I think he's missing to boat right now not without playing Austin with Shaq/Pellom more. Keep 2 of those 3 in there full time and we're much better.....

We have Wilson, Iverson and King. They are all deserving of more minutes and maybe we'll get an extra rebound or 2.

RE: Geoff on Josh
I'm just saying this column is right on the money ... in my opinion.
I also think we we got tired with 12 to go. Playing 6 is a bad idea in conference play.
I think going 4 guard is only good when some shots are falling and the other team can't pack it in. I think CJP showed he can coach in Orlando ... and I believe he figures all this out.
That said ... stubbornness is still his biggest weakness. JMHO.
This thread is amazing so far ... I haven't seen a single stupid reply ...

Five years in and his substitution patterns are STILL head scratchers. Just about anyone with any coaching experience will tell you the same thing.
