Yep, they didn't have the energy needed in the 1st half to put the team away other than Geron stepping it up but they did adjusted and came out with more fire in the 2nd half, althought some of the shots in the 1st were good shots but just weren't fallen.

RE: Josh Pastner Blocking players from media.
It looked like the players responded to a lackluster first half with a really strong second half- especially Joe, Chris, Geron, Shaq and Pellom. Dixon will have better games- his most egregious play was the fast break behind the back turnover in a close game.

The team hasn't had a full practice with everyone present this whole week because of finals. Not much the staff can do about that. I believe it was Aki who stated this in the pre game.

How is that coaches fault? Did you not hear Josh say over and over how much he stressed the importance of not looking ahead to Florida and focus on this game. Because our kids didn't listen, how is that coaching staffs fault?

Shots just weren't falling tonight, outside of Dixon we didn't press the issue. We played solid defense, and took good shots. They'll have nights like this, let's just hope they are few and far between.

You mean those who counted the St Mary's game as an 'almost loss'?

There was a somewhat similar game back in the 2005/06 season where we played UCLA. We could not get a rebound, a tip in, a lay up, a foul shot, mid range jumper, nothing would fall. Completely frustrating game for us that day. And that game was following a seven game winning streak. The Tigers lost that game to UCLA 50-45, it was on March 25 in the NCAA tourney, not Dec 14.
Better to get the kinks worked out early on regardless if we win or lose. But I think most of us prefer to win even if it is ugly.

True dat.
Problem is the media thinks it's their birthright to be able to talk to players.

Yep. And maybe it's just the way he runs, but he looks like he's laboring up & down the floor.

Genius scheduling on Pastners part.
Perfect tune up before Florida.
He can fire up the guys to work their tails off before the really big game.
We avenged our only loss this year and the UALR game will help us beat Florida in NY.

Magical season. Never will forget that game. I was in Grad school at Memphis at the time. We blew them out of the gym that season I believe it was in MSQ in the pre-season tourney.
I specifically remember picking up a pizza for the family from the local pizzeria before tip off and bumping into another Tiger fan picking up his too at the same time. "I like our odds" we both said to each other eagerly. Ah the memories down Tiger Lane. Pizza didn't taste as good as it looked.

Ok, we were completely confused by their defense in the first half, who did the scouting report? Talking about not looking ahead to Florida must not have worked. Maybe you don't talk about Florida at all. Somebody has to be responsible, right? I refuse to believe that all the players individually prepared poorly. If this is the case the coaching staff has to recognize it and change it.
UALR stinks, they're 3-6. In order to be great you have to be prepared every night.
