We were favored by 22. We won by 14. We had one horrible half, and adjusted and recovered in the second half. Pastner was unhappy with our effort, and responded appropriately. What is the problem? Not one, other than the media whining.

If we don't work the ball inside then out with inside being our main focus then this is what we will get.. We do not have consistent enough shooters to win with a perimeter game..we will struggle against any team if we don't get the inside people involved..

I think anyone that plays bad should be punished by being interviewed by Wolo. Tell me if you will......

The whole banning players is silly and stupid.

It just is.

It's the equivalent of suspending a bad kid from school.

I can only think of two or three players that truly enjoy talking to the media. Most of them look at it as punishment.

It SHOULD be a requirement.

When we come out and play like that (and we have a history of this FOREVER) What makes the other team automatic shoot the lights out? There 3's were raining in? You have to admitt that they made some good shot's and we were defending them. I just don't think it is all just our defence.

It's not a problem. Some around here likes to gin up controversy and drama. It was finals week and the team didn't practice as a whole as much as they normally do. So we saw the rust, the lack of cohesiveness and low energy and Josh and the staff corrected some things

RE: Josh Pastner Blocking players from media.
IMHO we looked rusty in the first half. As one poster said we had finals this week and only played one game last week. On the other hand UALR was loose, nailing 3’s, and making tough shots in the lane.

This was an ugly game for us but you gotta win the ugly games too because you’re going to have them. My only concern is inconsistent perimeter shooting. So far it appears either everyone is on, or everyone is off.

How is that coaches fault? Did you not hear Josh say over and over how much he stressed the importance of not looking ahead to Florida and focus on this game. Because our kids didn't listen, how is that coaching staffs fault?

Shots just weren't falling tonight, outside of Dixon we didn't press the issue. We played solid defense, and took good shots. They'll have nights like this, let's just hope they are few and far between.

There was a somewhat similar game back in the 2005/06 season where we played UCLA. We could not get a rebound, a tip in, a lay up, a foul shot, mid range jumper, nothing would fall. Completely frustrating game for us that day. And that game was following a seven game winning streak. The Tigers lost that game to UCLA 50-45, it was on March 25 in the NCAA tourney, not Dec 14.

Better to get the kinks worked out early on regardless if we win or lose. But I think most of us prefer to win even if it is ugly.

Magical season. Never will forget that game. I was in Grad school at Memphis at the time. We blew them out of the gym that season I believe it was in MSQ in the pre-season tourney.

I specifically remember picking up a pizza for the family from the local pizzeria before tip off and bumping into another Tiger fan picking up his too at the same time. "I like our odds" we both said to each other eagerly. Ah the memories down Tiger Lane. Pizza didn't taste as good as it looked.

The game was dominated by the officiating. One of the biggest side shows in several years of the tournament. Multiple media types called out the officials in that game. UCLA shot 40 free throws. Memphis shot 15. Nuff said.

Sooooo....we now know.

And no one knew this before.

If our team plays really really bad for an entire game- not making adjustments and playing better if there was poor play...they may...lose that game.

Which makes us like...every other good team in the entire nation.

True dat.

Problem is the media thinks it's their birthright to be able to talk to players.

The media members seem far more upset than their readers/customers.

Couldn't agree more. Memphis was completely shafted that year. Worst officiating I've ever seen. The tone was set when the selection committee matched up a #1 seed against UCLA in their own backyard.

If your sensitive ears can't handle adult talk I'm sure Barney or Power Rangers were on somewhere.
