Jay Bilas' top 68 teams
Jay has us as the 68th best team in the nation. He ends the column with a little insult directed at UAB.

"The Blazers are unlikely to stay in the Bilas Index, but if they keep rebounding at this rate, one never knows. Well, The Bilastrator knows."

I saw this the other day and decide not to post it for that very reason. He is a D*. Same dude who bashed us when we were selected to play Clemson. Unfortunately, he was right about us but very wrong about VCU that year.

He wasn't right about us. We earned our way to the tournament. Whatever happened after doesn't validate or invalidate our belonging into it.

Beat me to it.

We deserved to dance because of what we did BEFORE that game.

That we got creamed is immaterial to whether or not we deserved to play in it.

You guys are correct, but it made us look like a laughingstock.

We were blasted for the entire week leading up to the game, and we promptly were destroyed.

The shining point of the Mike Davis era.

All it proved is that 18-23 year old kids watch ESPN. The UAB players thought they didn't belong and the Clemson kids thought they couldn't lose.

I totally agree we deserved to be in it. I defended our bid vehemently.

It just made us look bad. How Davis couldn't have the guys up for a game where literally every sportscaster had been ridiculing us all week is still beyond me.

Bilas is a 8======D

I can agree with that. He's still a D* though.

There are blowouts all throughout the tournament. No one but a Blazer fans remember it.

Davis wanted a check for the games on his schedule. Any game beyond what he had promised was forbidden. The few tournament games won by Davis led teams were won by the players, not the coaching.

I honestly think the man was afraid of the stress that was brought upon by the success of the Indiana final 4 squad.

RE: Jay Bilas' top 68 teams
IMO Two things factored into our effort against Clemson:
1. The talking heads saying we didn't belong. This was magnified by factor 2

2. I was in the locker room prior to this game and our team was hyped and ready to fight to the death...then the game prior to ours went to overtime and you could feel the emotion leave the room.

I know this sounds like an excuse but thats the way Clemson kicked ouor arse.

3. The matchup was completely in Clemson's favor from the beginning and many would have expected the outcome that occurred (even within the Blazer fanbase).

4. After we beat ECU to win the regular season CUSA championship, we got a little complacent.
