a blast from the past....I have zero clue how it popped in me headstorm....a tad out of character for me....but it's all about one's groove in the moment, eh???

Really neat combo of only three instruments --- banjo, electric guitar, and bass guitar. I really enjoy the counterpoint the electric guitar and banjo run with each other during the song. Had never heard the three instruments used in combo like this and without anything else.

This band was one of my favorites int the late 80's - late 90's in Houston. The lead still sings solo gigs at the Continental Club in Austin on a regular basis.

Solo from the lead singer of the Hollisters (band above) -- Mike Barfield. Labels himself as the Tyrant of Texas Funk. One of the backups is the daughter of a legal secretary that worked with me the first time I lived in Austin 18 years ago. Still can't tell my ex-coworker how hot her daughter is...... sigh..... and that she changed a *lot* since the time I met her family many years ago....

Really awesome Leonard Cohen-type voice, and as odd as Lou Reed

Was turned onto Tito about twenty years ago --- have seen him many times here in Austin and actually have had beers with him

Don't play this next song (especially after the 2:00 mark) on any long straight highway. It doesnt mix well with radar guns.... (first hand knowledge, the *only* multiple offender I can think of for me...)

A good friend and Ozzie turned me onto Jimmy Barnes back in the 90's and the group he fronted Cold Chisel. Khe Sahn is originally a Cold Chisel song but Jimmy screeches it better solo imo. The best version is off the Raw album, which I couldnt find easily on YouTube.

Saw him play his hometown of Adelaide about 15 years ago and he was awesome. I dont think I have ever seen him tour the States at all.

I haven't watched Desperado in forever but I swear that lead singer was one of the bar tenders or customers when Cheech was the main bartender at that cantina where all the sh* goes down?

He had roles in both Rodriguez pulp films back then:

--- you are correct he was in Desperado, a customer of Cheech and sitting next to Steve Buscemi, later killed in the street by the Desperado;

http://www.hotflick.net/pictures/995/fhd...a_003.html

--- and the band as a whole was in From Dusk to Dawn (they were the house band at the vampire club)

Both films have major portions of the scores performed by Tito and the Tarantulas as well (including the first selection I posted done in Dusk till Dawn)

Major cool points for a sharp eye!!!

Thanks for that little jewel Stink. I think Zappa was a genius on the gee-tar and pretty damn smart all around. I loved it when he was giving it to congress back in the 80's. Rock really couldn't have had a better spokesman at the time.

I had a very good friend in the Marine Corps from Marlboro, Massatwoshits. He loved him some Frank Zapper as he called him. I knew who Zappa was back then but I listened to a ton of it when I was hanging out with George Kilroy. Good times.

I do crave and seek all old/new forms of expressionism....it's all about the vibe within the momento....
