This is correct. There was no change to the games scheduled already on the books. 6 total as you stated. Looking forward to the series.

It's ok, they won't play us either anymore. 04-cheers

UVA likes to schedule games they think they can win. It is becoming more and more of a challenge.

I thought schools hated rivalries.

They do. A few will play them. Most will get out of them. We will see if this goes forward. Liberty and James Madison are direct competitors for the CFP so there is some reason to play the games.

The AD's at Liberty, JMU, ODU & Marshall get along fairly well. On top of that, this makes a lot of sense for both schools. Should result in sell outs at each other's houses each game. If we both stay good, it could rival UVA-Tech in popularity.

Yes, it is a great game to play. But that is usually not a factor. Attendance is just not important anymore. So they prefer to play games that do not impact recruiting or possibly could get them fired.

But Liberty is extremely good at playing the game to make money so they understand the value of this game. This is a win-win with the CFP. You need to play to play a weak schedule but you also need to play somebody strong enough to get you to the CFP. So this game is a huge winner for both. It's exactly the kind of game you want to play and winning it is a big step toward making the CFP. Both sides win in this matchup unless Liberty goes 4-2 and then JMU will quit playing it.

Great for the Owls getting a H-H with Arkansas St.!

A lot of WKU fans (and Missouri St. fans) are envious.

We're open to a series with WKU with new administration in place. Most of the blocks were related to a previous AD who is no longer here. We play Missouri State regularly in basically every major sport, so they are irrelevant to this.

I'm hopeful now that we actually have a basketball program worth discussing that we can get a series going with WKU. Ditto with football. It makes absolutely zero sense that we don't play the Toppers given WKU is still closer to Jonesboro than the vast majority of our conference opponents.

All good gets.

Austin and Fort Worth close enough to get students and fans there (and both places well worth the trip). ULM pretty close and would often be winnable. UNLV often winnable.

Bold of anyone to assume we’ve got fans.

I honestly hate playing UT (and Texas A&M). Just annoying, arrogant and drunken fans plus an auto-L so not thrilled to see that on the schedule but you’ll bite the bullet for a bag… I guess (that’s kinda how this whole FBS thing works). Played there in ‘06 I think. Fort Worth is fun and TCU fans are cool.

Playing in Ruston and Monroe in the same season will be a throwback to the “good ol’ days” of bussing around Louisiana. Better than an FCS game for sure. I’ve been impressed with our G5 scheduling thus far. Colorado State, Hawaii, Georgia Southern and now UNLV all slated to visit Huntsville.

Don't forget Air Force, Troy & Tulsa (though Tulsa is not showing on future schedules anymore)

If Sammy doesn't go 6-0 in these games, I just want you to know, you've let us all down. 03-wink

Enjoy making hay in scheduling as a newbie. The second you start winning some of these guarantee games they will be much tougher to land.

I would love to see my alma mater get some of those matchups on the books. I am honestly jealous.

I seem to recall Liberty pulling an upset against Baylor and then hardly getting any P5 games on the schedule after that. I would love it if Sam could beat Texas or TCU. Have family members who are alumni of both schools so it will be fun to tailgate together and enjoy Austin and Fort Worth on the road. Texas is on a meteoric trajectory currently going to the SEC and the NIL Funding exploding. TCU is definitely much more winnable depending on if they're in an up or down year. If it's 2022 TCU that's an automatic L if it's 2021 or 2023 TCU we maybe have a slim chance. 04-cheers
