If he were really the type to worry about sitting behind a 4star recruit (presuming Minn even gets those) I doubt he'd have that winning streak or lead Toledo to the MACC.

This is a head's up competition, what do we offer over what do they offer as a place to make a name. I doubt Minn will be the last of the competition.

Good points, East. With the QBs we have for next season I wonder how that compares to the competition he would have at Minnesota, not just for next season but the next one or two after that...

This is the kind of guy The Rockets need. He only knows how to WIN. Doesn't matter how it gets done, the bottom line he wins. Chuck Ealey, Bruce Gradkowski and other great QBs only knew how to win. I don't care what the level of competition he played against in high school, that's over-rated. Winning is an intangible he has and that's something you can't coach. UT needs to do everything in its power to get this guy.

In the Blah article today it reports that Smith is also the point guard on his HS basketball team. Wasn't Bruce his teams PG? Wasn't Ealy recruited by UT after seeing him play in a HS basketball game.....do I sense a theme?

Kind of strange that the Blade would do a story on a kid who might de-commit.

On the upside the story did say he was completely committeed to Toledo. Now it's only worth the paper it's printed on, but the kid says he likes us.

From what I've heard, Smith is THE guy in this class that's working on other recruits to commit to Toledo. He wants winners around him.

For what it's worth, I say Toledo offer perferred walkon status to at least 2 of his receivers if they are seniors (even if they are not D-I material). At least we know they can catch the (his) football.

I agree. Heck, for that matter, if Adams transfers, wouldn't that actually open up one more scholly that we weren't expecting, or do we have to wait a season or two to use it?
