RE: MAC Attendance- Through Week 10
Notes from the numbers:

-Toledo is #7 this year in MAC attendance? That may be the lowest they've ever been ranked in the MAC.

-UMass is in danger of not meeting the required 15,000 home average necessary to fully transition to FBS. Another crowd of 10k will put the minutemen at 15,730 for the season.

-Is EMU trying to get demoted to FCS? It seriously doesn't even sound like they are trying.

Dear Kittonhead,
I do not believe there is any average that has to be met anymore. I know there was at one time, but I think it has gone by the wayside.

I'm pretty sure the 15,000 paid attendance rule is still in effect.

Either get your nose out of your ass or the catnip.

Because you look like a fool and sound like a running toilet bowl.

We need 5618 at the Akron game and it's not an issue. We have 4200 season ticket holders and with group sales and walk-ups, not an issue.

There were 2 million at the World Series Red Sox celebration during the NIU game and still had over 10k.

(Thanks NIU007 fixed the typo.)

Thanx 4 helping Kittonhead with the math. Maybe Ohio is more into the arts than originally reported...lol!

We have also played FCS, WMU, EMU and Navy. Not the usual BG and BCS school. Plus cold and rainy forecasts or outcome to all games. That kind of year.... Still bet the stands look better at UT than all MAC schools excluding one or two during the midweek games.

Yeah, UMass needs 5,618 against Akron to hit the 15,000 average.

The Red Sox parade cost us about 5,000 to 6,000 fans. IMO.

I was rooting for the Cardinals, if anyone was wondering.

Anyone catch a glimpse of the crowd at last nights Miami/ bgsuCKS game? Looked like there were 500 hundred people in the stands. What the heck else is there to do in Oxford?? Completely embarrassing. Said attendance was at 10,000. Not even close to that. Wow.

RE: MAC Attendance- Through Week 10
Attendance is not butts in seats, Induct. It's ticket sales and students. Even then, I am a bit doubtful of the 10K claimed by Miami. According to attendees, there were less than 4,000 people there at the beginning. And, as far as something to do in Oxford, although a life-long Redhawk fan I can attest that watching this Miami team is not exactly a fun way to spend the afternoon or evening. I think studying may even be a more satisfying choice of an activity.

Speaking of attendance, too bad that the weather is so lousy in Muncie tonight....I understand that they actually had pretty good ticket sales to this game but with the rain man stayed home and obviously the students did not come out. Too bad as BSU is playing "lights out" tonight and leading 31-3 at the half. BSU QB Wenning is "the rea deal".

So i just got home and turned on the game in the top of the 3rd qtr and there is almost no one in attendance at the Ball State game. Has it been like that the entire game?

Heavy rain in 1st half...rained all day as well. My brother is a BSU grad with a suite at the stadium..he said that advance sales to the game were actuallly pretty decent considering it's a Wednesday night and many BSU ticketholders (like him) live quite a distance away. The bad forecast and then bad weather obviously "dampened" the crowd....I didn't see the 1st qtr so not sure if there were more students there before the heavier rain..by halftime it looked like the band and about 1,000 students left.

Well Tuesday is 90's Night at Brick Street...

I put zero blame on the fans for staying home, who honestly wants to watch a winless team get slaughtered on a Tuesday night? Yager is also in a pretty remote location so that doesn't help the student attendance one bit. Granted the weather was pretty good for a November night so we can't use that excuse (too bad we couldn't save that for the Akron game when we could've drawn a decent homecoming crowd if we weren't playing in monsoon conditions), but the fact that we drew 3000-4000 of attendees is honestly more than I thought we'd get (BG brought something like 500 so that helped I guess). Look for EMU-level crowds against Buffalo.

On a related note, our paid attendance average is 17,525, borderline incredible numbers for a winless MAC team. Even drawing 5,000 to our next game will give us a season average of 15k.

I have a question, how is Papa John a Ball State alum but he gives a ton of money to Louisville? Is he donating any money to Ball State?

RE: MAC Attendance- Through Week 10
Looking at the second half crowdsize for a Tuesday/Wednesday night game that starts at 8 and ends around 11:30 when all 3 games this week were decided before half and then complaining about it is STUPID. Most people have to work or have class the next day, and most retired persons are not sticking around till 11 in a blowout game, plus it gets colder and colder as the night wears on. Now I would exect a great crowd next sweek for Ball State at NIU, but who is going to spend next Wednesday nigth at the Miami-Kent game (besides me, that is)??

RE: MAC Attendance- Through Week 10
Dick, I think BSU would've had a decent crowd the first half if the weather had cooperated Hey, these weeknight games are an "attendance killer" for MAC schools as we all know. MAC schools are mostly in small, rural towns and the season tix holder mostly live out of town......most have to work for a living and attending a mid-week game out of town isn't plausible.

RE: MAC Attendance- Through Week 10
Attendance the first half at Ball State was actually pretty good considering the fact that it rained the entire first half. The student crowd was better than expected. Most students left at the half, and who could blame them? It was a blowout and the rain was still falling. The rain stopped for a while during the 3rd quarter but then the temperature began to drop. It was very cold from then on. Announced attendance was just under 9,500. Had the weather cooperated, there likely would have been another 4,000 to 5,000 in the stands.
