I wondered about this as well. I am pretty sure the company is headquartered in Louisville so that probably explains why (not that it excuses it)

Are the attendance reporting rules really so difficult to comprehend? It's sad that so many people just can't grasp them.

RE: MAC Attendance- Through Week 10
I am surprised that the announced attendance for BSU-CMU wasn't higher than 9,500 (not that it reallyl matters) as I understood they had over 7K in advance ticket sales. With decent weather BSU officials had hoped to have a crowd of around 15K...the weather didn't cooperate and the students left due to the rain and the blow out win.

Who buys ticket to a football game in the Midwest in November expecting decent weather?

I've bought season tickets because I want to support the program knowing full well I am not going to get to some of the games. Those tickets should count. And they do.

"Decent" weather at MAC HQ is anything under 2 feet of snow. 04-cheers

Our strategy of hosting only 3 home games thru week 10 is paying off...

It's just weird that the BSU crowd looked to be larger than that of the Buffalo one and 12k was the difference in reporting. What's the point of reporting it at all, if the margin of error is give or take 15k in some situations?

RE: MAC Attendance- Through Week 10
There shouldn't even be a requirement of butts in seats. How about pure cash per season must be given to the conference or NCAA (whoever the money goes to). If half of the schools are going to lie, let the number disappear. Wins and losses at home can determine how good a teams home field advantage is, regardless of number at the games.

I have heard that Ball State does a hand count for student tickets and the like whereas some other schools have electric counters (Kent uses their Flash cards to scan into the game if I am not mistaken). Hand counts tend to be fairly inaccurate and seem to go towards missing students. Students are the one area where advance ticket sales do not apply generally (or so I think) so that might be one area where Ball State will be missing some numbers. I think a BSU fan here mentioned it in another thread a while back.

Once again though remember most of the called attendance are tickets sold+students+misc and may not be final as the numbers given to the NCAA for rules arbitration are not always the same for various reasons.

RE: MAC Attendance- Through Week 10
I don't know if it would be possible, but a good way to get a decent crowd for our home finale against Buffalo is to tell everyone that the new coach will be announced at halftime or something. It's definitely not the normal press conference, and I have no idea if we would even find our guy by the 19th, but if it happened it would be a good idea.
