DeLoss Dodds confirms he will step down as Texas AD on Aug. 31, 2014. "Loved every minute of 32 years we've been at Texas."

That is about as possible as Houston going to the ACC. In other words no chance.

What Luck meant to say was he wouldn't talk to reporters about the Texas AD job. He later clarified that original "No" should have been "No comment."

ISU, KSU, TCU, Baylor and WVU end up in the American. Otherwise the PAC takes 6, including KU and KSU. TCU/Baylor/WVU go to the American. But if the GoR is so that all Big 12 schools must end up in a P4, there will be no movement. I don't see OU and OSU splitting up or the PAC taking OSU without OU.
Technically they only have to account for 8, but realistically it will probably take at least 9 if not all ten. We'll have to wait to see who Texas's new AD is to know whether the Texahoma deal is as dead as some of their fans & donors seem to think. It is an interesting issue for them though because there is a fairly significant division on that topic.

I still doubt Luck takes the Texas AD job, and the dispute between WVU and John Raese will have no impact on that decision...

In my opinion UD taking 8 of the Big 12 schools into the PAC is the only move that will guarantee the outcome that Scott wants. Such a move would lead to some very lively consequences in the East as well.
I agree and get the point.... I know WV is out because of location. However, what other school should be left out: Baylor, Iowa St, K St...
If I were Scott I would take everyone but Baylor and West Virginia. If the ACC stands fast the Big 10 would eventually be looking at Connecticut and Buffalo. The SEC wants a DFW area presence which is why they would be hot to get Oklahoma. Oklahoma gives them DFW and the state of Oklahoma for the price of one. Without Oklahoma or Oklahoma State on the available list the SEC might well consider Baylor for the DFW presence they would like. Baylor's academics are a plus for the bottom line in the SEC as well. In that scenario West Virginia would be a nice market addition as well. That way all ten teams are taken care of. The PAC goes to 20, the SEC to 16, the Big 10 to 16 (possibly), and the ACC stays at 14 plus N.D. That's 67 teams.
JR, I am now convinced that you are really a West Virginia fan. It seems as if every scenario that you suggest ends up with West Virginia in the SEC.
It just isn't going to happen.
West Virginia has far too much value to the B1G or to the ACC in their struggle to win over the northeast college football fan(s) to ever end up in the SEC where they have no history.

If the SEC offers WVU a spot once the GoR ends, the Mountaineers will accept it in a heartbeat...
If the ACC wants WVU, they should have accepted us when we asked them to. Given a choice between the 2, I doubt having a few old rivals will give the ACC any advantage. There's still some hard feelings in Morgantown where the ACC is concerned. Besides, the SEC is the best football conference. It's football that drives the bus at WVU, and the SEC is football first...
WVU would also give the SEC some good basketball, and another decent rival for Kentucky's hoops teams...

I don't know about what Scott would do, but if I'm Delany, I'm approaching (in order):
Notre Dame
Kansas
Missouri
Kentucky
West Virginia
UConn/Iowa State.
Since the feeling that Notre Dame won't be getting on the B1G train we can eliminate them from consideration, which moves Kansas to #1.
I don't think Delany will make it to the bottom of the list, do you?

Kentucky and West Virginia would be a 180 departure from what the B1G has espoused from the beginning. I don't think Mizzou is or wants to go anywhere now... that ship has sailed. Kansas needs to happen for the B1G, though. They fit.

For fairness sakes, we have been talking about this for awhile now Bit and you know that.
If the Big 12 is to collapse it wont be because of Texas seeking a new AD but a pending Big 12 collapse is much more likely to be the underlying cause of Texas seeking a new AD. Especially when you look at the timeline. Why else would Dodds wait until August of next year?
He gets a $1 million annuity if he stays until Aug 2014.

THIS. I love all this made up ACC talk... the Texoma 4 is likely to happen folks. Why do you think Dodds is retiring?
1) The ACC will not give TX a ND deal while taking TT as a full member.
2) TX will not follow aTm to the SEC when it considers itself the leader.
3) The B10 will not take OU, OSU, and TT for academic reasons.
4) The PAC 12 was the only conference willing to take all four schools and will gladly take them now as long as TX is included....
Re no 3.....I believe OU is close to gaining AAU status. So that could change
