How dare you imply that in the conference realignment forum JR. What is wrong with you? That is not suitable Moderator behavior!!
Shh! He1nous, not so loud, panties will be getting in a wad! Besides I think there are many that come to the Conference Realignment board just to deny it will ever happen again. Perhaps this should be the Conference Realignment Denial Board. In fact that may be what we've always needed, 2 boards, one for those of us who believe more realignment will happen and one for those who deny conference realignment will ever happen. It might indeed help both groups to discuss the concept without constantly bickering about it.

This NBC writer needs to get a clue too and stop talking about silly stuff like this.
Unfortunately he was talking about stuff that was fairly serious about 10 months ago. But hey, if the PAC misses out on Big 12 targets they are going to have to think outside of the box to find more revenue.
The tweet that was the center point of the article is about today though, not ten months ago.

Oh yeah. I got that. And I understand what it implies. It's just that the theory behind that got a lot of play about 10 months ago.

Has the SEC lost its identity…. The amount of offense the better SEC schools are putting up against each other is out of character for the conference—although Alabama did play some SECond to none D this weekend…..

Florida is playing decent defense too. Auburn is getting better after the Chiz. Mississippi State's D isn't bad. But, the real problem is that most high schools are so deficient in talent that all of it is put into offense. Finding great defensive players that want to play defense is getting harder even in the SEC. Spread offenses also make it difficult to practice good defense during weekly scrimmages. I don't know all of the reasons of course but those two factors I think have had a great deal of bearing upon the recent decline, which I do resent, and I do think is real. Also UD consider the rule changes which all seem to be aimed at the defenses. You can use hands on the line of scrimmage but not so much down field, you have to turn to face the ball on coverage, you have to think twice before lowering to strike because of targeting, you can't hit the quarterback hard because it just looks like a foul and will most likely be called that way, you don't have time to substitute when the spread is run up tempo, all of these changes have impacted the defense negatively far more than they have even impacted the offense positively.
With pass routes more open than ever before because of rules changes the defenses just get plain worn out. Without hand chucks and checks it is very difficult to force a team to run and once they can easily pass it's hard to stop the occasional run from gashing the middle. That's why all the high numbers are constantly breaking the offensive records. I think it's ruining the game, but then I'm perfectly content with 20 to 13 games while the young people lose their interest if something is constantly making lights and scoreboards flash.

JR, you remind of this comment during the 2nd half of WVU's game... Quote:From sir broosk @celebrityhottub - West Virginia is winning with defense and LSU is playing it safe and kicking long field goals. WE ARE THROUGH THE DAMN LOOKING GLASS.

The refs are getting horrible these days... I noticed LSU get away with a couple of PI's and UGA get away with multiple ones. It's not right either way, but they really cost LSU a chance to win on that last drive when they just sat there with their thumbs up each other's butts.
It's all good though, I look forward to LSU winning out and defeating UGA big in the SECCG.

You see, Mizzou brought the spread offense to the SEC and everyone is drinking the Kool Aid. You are welcome!

Dude, I don't think they called one legitimate penalty that entire game - on either side. The calls they made were BS calls, and the ones they didn't were flagrant - especially the pass interference non-calls...

Or perhaps, Ole Miss only looks good against mediocre teams. That ought to be the conclusion unless Ole Miss comes up big against a good team this year -- let's see how they look against TAMU in a couple of weeks.

Not actually Medic, Gus Malzahn brought the spread in for Cam Newton at Auburn before Missouri ever joined and even then it was only a variation of the Fun & Gun that Spurrier ran at Florida, or the offense that Hal Mumme ran while at Kentucky with Lorenzen. I may be leaving some others out too. But Missouri sure continues the trend.

RE: what is it with sec teams????
Plenty of SEC coaches showed up at RichRod's offensive clinics while he was in Morgantown. He wasn't teaching 'em 3 yards and a cloud of dust either...
