RE: Gay Gone
Why does everyone think we are cashing in on this season? We lose Rudy that's it. We didn't have Rudy two years ago when we made our playoff run. If we trade Zach then yes we are cashing it in on this year, but this trade doesn't mean we are giving up on this season.

More what? From everything I've seen (and this could be completely inaccurate) we traded Rudy & Haddadi. Picked up Davis, Prince, and Daye and a pick. And will save over 30 million over the next 3 yrs I think..

Some just don't realize the business side of trades. You nailed it with saving 30 million over the next 3 yrs.

We also had his Shane-ness in his prime.

RE: Gay Gone
First of all, i'm just glad the grizz moved rudy east. Unfortunately for rudy though, i doubt very many people keep up with toronto or ever watch them. I don't see that changing at this time. I wish him luck. I actually like rudy but just tired of his game. Maybe this will help him reach greater heights in his career.

I like haddadi, but he is slow. Not sure who will be marc's backup after this move.

That being said, i haven't seen much of ed davis since he is at toronto. Paid 2.2 mil this year. Averaging 10 points and 7 rebounds and shooting 55%. 23 years old.

I don't watch nor keep up with detroit much either. I have no idea how the guys have been playing or their contract details.

T. Prince is a good 3 even if he is older, so my guess is he is basically rudy's replacement. 10 years in the league. 32 years old. Still has some decent numbers. Shooting 43% on 3's and 44% overall. Known for his defense and has championship experience. Making 6.8 million.

Espn has austin daye listed as a PF, but i remember him more as a SF, so there's your possible backup. Making 3 million this year.

Rudy and haddadi add up to about 17.8 million. The new contracts add up to 12 million.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around what the grizz have done, but it don't sound that bad right at first. Would like to know all the contract details on the incoming grizz players.

we are fans, the grizz are having their best season, record-wise, ever. we have just ditched 4 members of the 9 man core that did that for, essentially, a backup pf for us and an over the hill SF. and we traded a 1st round pick for a 2nd.

wtf? we are we supporting this franchise? watch them trade zbo too so davis can develop.

then we're back to the lottery for 4 years until we realize ed davis isn't a franchise player

Btw, good call couple weeks back on Gay being traded this season. I was a fool to believe Grizz would stay pat after the first trade.

RE: Gay Gone
For those that don't know about Ed Davis, he has been averaging 14 and 8 just like Marc Gasol this past month when he started getting playing time. Only difference is Marc is 28 years old, Ed is 23. Ed is a big time up and comer. He could be a replacement for Zach Randolph. We could trade Zach after this season while he still has some value, and have Ed who is showing he can be a big time PF. This move saves us 30 mil over the next few years, and establishes a younger foundation of the team. Oh yeah, and I didn't even mention Prince. I love this trade, and so does every national analyst out there like it for the Griz.

The ditched players:

Speights-wasn't going to get much more playing time because essentially him and Arthur are the same player. So losing Speights isn't that big of a deal as long as Arthur stays healthy

Ellington-He was decent 3 point shooter, but he was a streaky at best. Did you even watch or pay attention to all the games he played in while here. He had a few games where he was on fire, but other than that he would hit very few 3's. Losing him hurt, but not that much especially the way Chris Johnson has shot since being here. (Grizz need to sign him, but probably won't)

Rudy-Supposedly the franchise player. In truth though Rudy just isn't a franchise player. Now he may go to Toronto and play great I don't know. What I do know is that we made our run two years ago without Rudy. I think this team will be ok without him.

Not sure who the 4th player your talking about is, but if its Hamed then I have wasted my time with even responding to this.

This is great; I was beginning to like the NBA again, this shut that door. I love an ownership that doesn't care if they win or not, that way I don't become emotionally involved.

Rob Fischer: grizzlies getting a 2013 second round pick (early second round) mainly because Raptors do not own a 1st round pick (OKC owns it)

So your saying because the new owner is trying to clean up the financial mess that Heisley got this team in is a sign that he doesn't care about winning.

No I get it, but I hate turning a borderline all star (even if overpaid) into a SF who is at the end of the road, and two other players who are cogs and not building blocks.

I'm saying that I no longer care about the NBA and am extremely grateful to the new owner; after years and years of apathy, I was just beginning to care a little, and I didn't want to. Now I don't. So I'm thrilled.
