Why I'm so skeptical about UVA leaving the ACC:

04.) Virginia - 7

1.) North Carolina - 117
2.) Virginia Tech - 92
3.) Duke - 64
4.) North Carolina St. - 57
5.) Wake Forest - 48
6.) Clemson - 46
7.) Georgia Tech - 35

In 2 years Miami will move up to #7 and BC will be 9th on Pitt`s top 10. That will give Pitt 4 of it's top 10 as conference members. An interesting footnote to the Pitt - VT game. It was the first and last time the two have met in a non-conference game.

RE: ACC Winter Meetings tomorrow!
So a quick update, there was nothing decided at least by Thursday, (thats the last day I've talked to anybody), about divisions. However there is one idea that has support by a good majority of the group, if a decision to change divisions happens. I was surprised, before the meetings I was told geographic divisions weren't supported, wonder what happened? It splits the Virginia schools one northern and one southern as cross divisional and sends two NC Schools to the North. I thought about how that would work.

North: Pitt, Cuse, BC, Louisville, VT, State, WF

South:GT,FSU,Clemson,Miami,UVA,UNC, DUKE

I see 2 problems with that:
1) No FL trips for the "North" division (maybe put UL in South, Miami in North?)
2) NC State can't play both UNC and Clemson

Honestly, I doubt any non-zipper divisions are ever accepted unless it's East/West

RE: ACC Winter Meetings tomorrow!
You can take this for what it's worth. But this making its way around the message boards as being the divisional allignment with the most support at the winter meetings.

FSU- THE U
State-UNC
Wake-Duke
Syracuse-Pitt
BC-Louisville
GT-UVA
Clemson-VT

Neither of the proposed divisions fix our problem with the divisions (playing all the North Carolina schools). But I would rather play GT than Louisville (more series history, Georgia recruiting, Atlanta, closer road trip), so it has that going for it.

Well that division woul revive our baseball program in a hurry, so it has that going for it. I do think you would have to trade Louisville for Miami if you expect VT to support that at all.

I know the GT-Ville switch was discussed but a lot felt competition in the Coastal would be very weak, It could happen but I find it unlikely.

Weaker than putting GT, Clemson, FSU, Miami, and UNC in the same division?

I see your point, its hard right now to not make one of the divisions seem weak unless you split up Clemson and FSU.

RE: ACC Winter Meetings tomorrow!
Louisville has done better on the field recently over GT. I don't see how that makes the Coastal a lot weaker. If we are talking about making them equal though, lets talk recruiting grounds. Right now the Atlantic has the 3 weakest recruiting ground teams in the ACC all in their division. Kentucky, Boston and NY. So if we want to make all things equal, one of them should indeed go to the Coastal.

Are divisions even really being discussed? Have seen nothing concrete on this at all.

Common sense would tell that FSU/GT being closest to each other should play every year instead of 2 times every 12 years. But this is the ACC so common sense rarely prevails.

There are rumors going around on twitter about Georgia Tech/Louisville swapping places. Virginia Tech/Clemson would be a crossover. G Tech would crossover with UVA. BC-Louisville would also be a crossover. Has anyone else seen anything on this?

I haven't seen that rumor, but I sure like it! That would give Va Tech guaranteed annual games with:

* Clemson
* Louisville
* Pittsburgh
* Miami
* UNC & Duke (1 at home, 1 in NC)
* UVa

plus 1 random Atlantic division school (any of which would be just fine with me)

The only games we lose on an annual basis would be Ga Tech and BC - I could live with that.

If Louisville took GT's place, wouldn't UofL's primary crossover opponent be Clemson? (Since it's that way with GT)
