I watched them a number of times and they never really impressed me. They were able to pull out a bunch of wins at the end of the game this year. They should absolutely have lost to Louisiana-Lafayette. Texas A&M as well, but they had the fortune of playing them at the beginning of the year. They had better talent than Louisville, but that is what happens when one team plays better than they are (Louisville) and another plays worse than they are (Florida). It doesnt happen often but it does from time to time. Louisville was a pretty average team this year and last night doesnt change that.
Totally disagree abt the Texas A&M game. UF absolutely dominated the 2nd half of that game which was their MO for the entire season. Johnny Football, early season or not, was absolutely spectacular in the 1st half as he baffled UF with his running/ passing. Entirely different story 2nd half. UF would often come in to the game wobbly and make serious adjustments and dominate the 2nd half of games:
* Florida has trailed at halftime in five of its 12 games this season, but has gone on to win four of those games. Notably, Florida came back to beat Texas A&M and LSU early in the season. All season, the Gators have been better in the second half than the first. Florida has a plus-50 point differential in the first half. That number jumps to plus-116 in the second half,
the fifth-largest second-half differential in FBS.
* Florida also trailed or was tied entering the fourth quarter in five of its 12 games this season. The Gators outscored its opponents 55-16 in the fourth quarter in those games.
They held those five teams to a combined 383 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
This was seemingly indicative of superior coaching adjustments on their behalf....all of which makes it highly surprising of how disparaging the coaching difference was (tilted in Loserville's direction of course) this week.
What made UF not appear to be 'impressive' was the type of ball they play not. It's not flashy, the offense is highly meh-worthy, and to be honest their isn't a ton of NFL talent on the field on the offensive side. However, their D is typically stifling. This is where they impress.
