Perhaps the #agenda is just an agenda against poor hires.

Could be. But then there are those people who also complained early on about Fuente and Calipari. Need to run a vlookup to see if they're the same people.

As far as I am concerned, it was really easy to see Fuente was a good coach right off the bat.

That was a wonky game. Moreover, I don't know anyone who ever wanted Fuente gone, or even really questioned it. There was the Lynch vs. Karam debate in year one, which was as controversial as it got (I wasn't for freeing the piano man).

As for Cal, the only folks who really wanted him gone were the one's made up in Cal's mind.

For Pastner to destroy Georgia Tech basketball would require it to have not already been destroyed by Paul Hewitt and Brian Gregory.

One thing I will say is this, just when you think things cannot get any worse under Josh Pastner, they always do. Never make the mistake of turning your back on his current failures and thinking it can only get better

He was ACC COTY in his first year. It's hard to see that as failure. Is he the guy for GT? I don't know. Time will tell. But he hasn't exactly wowed me with stockpiling talent in recruiting yet.

That is the best you have? Pastner won a lot of games but it was still easy to see he was in over his head.

Best what that I have? Losing to UT Martin game 1 isn't a sure sign of a good coach. Turned out great, but it was a shaky start.

Pastner had damn near everybody fooled at the beginning, and turned out awful.

Ok, so from my perspective with Fuente, he immediately changed everything starting with practices. He had a very organized and fast paced practice that in some ways overwhelmed the Larry Porter guys who had never experienced something like that before. For me, it was easy to see he was moving us in the right direction from day one.

One the Pastner side of things. Not long after he took over ESPN came in and taped one of his practices. While he was being interviewed, two of his players came up to him, one on each side. During an interview with ESPN they started grinding on him on both sides while he stood there and smiled and I said right then, on this very board, we were in for a mess. Could you imagine Cal allowing players walking up to him and interrupting him during an ESPN interview? Now take that a step forward, can you imagine any coach in the entire world allowing players to come up to him during an interview and actually sexually grinding on his hips while he was having that interview?

Rip ran good practices too, but I see your point. Stil no guarantees. The Memphis football coaching job sunk a lot of men.

Pastner was a goof, but could have won in spite of everything had he grown into the role. Too stubborn/proud/whatever. I wasn't ever sold on him, but gave up completely when he brought the guy with the mask on board and all that new age mumbo jumbo became apparent. Couldn't see much of anybody much less the guys he was recruiting being into that mess.

Where?

On this board?

The only year Cal really got groans was the 2004-05 season. That was a disaster and was deserved. But the Laurenburg kids were locked up for the next year with a returning Dorsey, Darius, and Carney, so there was renewed hope on the horizon.

Fuente--again--the only beef with him were the short sided fools who wanted him to play Karam over Lynch. They were dumb-dumbs.

What was all the 'Honest John' stuff about with Cal? I never was clear about it, but there were people that didn't like him that used that term on this board.

Other than the Karam thing, I don't remember anybody having concerns with Fuente.

Wasn't that one poster from the CBS board that called him that. Obviously some of the dyed in the wool southerners never took to Cal's carpetbagging ways. That was never going to be remedied.

Can't say about this board - wasn't here then. But I saw it on Roar. And if it was there, I figure it had to be 100x worse here.

I also know a few who freely admit they were anti-Cal and not sold on Fuente in the beginning.

Point being...If you've been pro-Cal, Fuente, Norvell from early on, and anti-Tubby, Porter, Pastner, then good for you. You're good at reading coaches early on and there's no agenda.

But I suspect at least some here are in other categories. They take it personal because they were pro-Pastner and now are anti-Tubby (agenda). Or they're trying to be frontrunners, so they are anti-everyone (agenda). Or they wanted someone else so they're anti-Tubby (agenda). If that weren't the case, we would have seen better support last year in his first season.

Yeah that’s what he was named. But he also went 3-7 in February and March to finish the regular season. That’s prime CJP right there. His teams get worse as the season goes. Off seasons filled with drama, suspensions and players leaving the program. Running off assistant coaches. Insulting fans for questioning his wisdom and abilities. I suspect this will be his last HC spot. He’ll move on to be an assistant and then maybe pop up 10 years later like a Quinn Snyder did. Don’t see him ever being an announcer or on tv. He’s too annoying to listen to.

That team runs good stuff and are well coached.
